The General With the Cockeyed Id! I'm listening to this at the moment via youtube. I remember DECADES ago I got this on that horrible LP, and honestly didn't think much of it. But this really is an amazing little score! Anyone know if the tapes still exist.... Yavar?
Ahhhh yeah, the old 'up and down' sound boot. It went lower when dialogue happened from the tape. Is a cue from ID used as source music in PETER PROUD?
I spent hours adjusting all the volume dips on my copy, and although the end result isn't perfect it does make it easier to listen to. By the way, the youtube version is edited - the original version is five minutes longer.
About five years ago, somebody sold an actual promotional LP on eBay that had the complete score without the volume dips on one side, and the full soundtrack to the film (with narration) on the other. It was bought for $1,026.64 by FSM board member Ron Burbella.

I always thought the Tsunami CD came from that promotional LP. I listened to a friend's copy sometime back and I don't remember the volume going up and down. I would really love a good transfer to be made for a really official CD release with good liner notes from one of our labels. Sure it's a short score and not from one of the main studios so perhaps couldn't be paired with anything...maybe they could lower the price to $15 to make up for it? But if not I'm sure at least 1000 Goldsmith fans would still be willing to pay $20 for this...Intrada? Kritzerland maybe? Bruce did release that short Tiomkin documentary score on CD...

Your memory has failed you, Yavar. There was no Tsunami CD, it was from a "label" called Delphi (and yes, I bought it, in 1995, before I knew better). Like the bootleg LP from the '70s (which my friend Warren owned), it was sourced from an up-and-down music track. Sometimes, the music is dialed to zero in the middle of the piece.
