So, Dunkirk, whose score is as far from music as you can possibly get without a soundtrack of stone silence, received a nomination from the Grammys, which is all about rewarding the best in music.

I don't know if 'jumping the shark' is still a thing, but I'm pretty sure the Grammys totally just did.

Only took 2 replies to the OP! Figured it would be in the first reply!

Seriously. Considering how integral Zimmer's score was to the overall sound design of DUNKIRK, it should be no surprise, whatsoever, that it was nominated. It will not be the score's last major nomination, either.

People 'round here been slack. Everything should be marked; should be 'membered.

There's a chance this music, shall we say, works in the film, but on its own...

I've listened to this album MANY times on its own away from the film. I think it works just great as a stand alone listening experience.

For the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2016, and Sept. 30, 2017.

so any film score released after Sept 30th was not considered for 2017.

It will be interesting to see what they choose for 2018.
