Much appreciated, pal. 7) Jehannum's riposte to a certain other FSMer in the "Favorite Simon & Garfunkel Song?" thread. 8) William McCrum's incredulity at my having bought shoes from Northern Ireland. 9) Preston Neal Jones' self-given "less life left to live" nickname in the "Why Don't They Drink the Beer in Commercials?" thread. 10) Tall Guy's "There's a conspiracy against Leeds United" posts, all written with the passion of a level-headed fanatic. 11) Graham Watt's remark about yours truly, which ended up ensconced in my profile: "Jim Phelps can't reconcile in his mind his three obsessions: Darkly nihilistic films with an intellectual slant, 1969-75; Darkly nihilistic film scores with an intellectual slant, 1969-75; The sight of grown men running around a field chasing a pig's bladder." 12) A since-banned FSMer writing: "Ask me anything about 2001: A Space Odyssey...as if he knew the answers. A Leo DiCaprio-as-Gatsby toast to you all, gents. What happened to the fairer sex? Hey, Bill, don’t worry. Jim did say he’d post more. And I do like his Hemingway and Saturday Night Fever topics. Two of my favorite threads were long ago. One was from Howard who was shuf-shuffling snow on a winter night. Pure poetry. I loved our older Buffy thread where Ron, Cooper, several others and I dissected weekly Buffy episodes. I like the threads that delve deeply into certain scores like Deputy Riley’s posts, especially his Hunger Games analysis. Yavar does a great job with Goldsmith. I liked my own analysis of To Kill A Mockingbird. I always enjoyed our dialogue about the novel too and assigning Howard homework. Patting myself on the back with all humility, I enjoyed my topic on the book about Moross’ The Big Country as well as my Thank You thread dedicated to Jon Broxston and James Southall who still continue to give us great essays on current scores. Actually, I guess I like my own topics. Of course, I enjoy the heart-felt topics we get from EDW and the smart-ass ripostes from Bill Carson. I also like the Rate the Movie from 1-10 topic. I remember fondly Anonie’s Quo Vadis analysis, and our dear CAT’s contributions to my limericks thread and her passionate support of Rozsa. Henry/Morricone should get some kind of award for his series highlighting some of the more obscure Ennio scores. The OTT thread was gloriously inappropriate, and it was a shame that it was eventually locked although I understood the reasons. I enjoy the occasional revisit to the Unexpected Items at the Checkout thread, although it’s a bit of an in-joke and not necessarily as inclusive as it might be. I love how music-mad Mitch can tell you on what date in 1992 he bought such-and-such a CD and probably how many times he’s played it since! Dogbelle’s videos are beautiful and more people should take the time to watch them. Thanks to everyone on the various association football threads. I’m in touch with several fsmers off the board either regularly or very occasionally, and I appreciate all you guys (and gals, if one still has to add that!) And very little cheers me up more than bitching about stuff over the medium of text with Bill.
