Can anyone pinpoint the origins of the motif heard at 3:43 to 3:54 on the track Mortimer's Ghastly Discovery from the William Stromberg re-recording of this score. Was it created by Steiner or does it originate in an earlier classical era piece? It's a sort-of cliched melody that often elicits nefarious activities. For instance, Young uses it briefly in his epilogue to Around the World in Eighty Days referencing Robert Newton's character.
