Now I wonder: When will the "For your consideration" website with the music be online? Perhaps around January 5, when nomination voting opens?

I wouldn't count on any music being posted for The Post. It's featured on the 20th Century Fox site currently, and they haven't uploaded any music over the past few years, as I recall. Just a schedule of screenings for voting members, synopsis, and a category listing.

A strong start to the new year.

Does anyone know if the download is released earlier than 12th January?

Can't wait to listen to it, as with The Last Jedi of course.

We're so lucky to still have John Williams working, at the top of his game!

I'd be shocked if the streaming/download version didn't drop on Friday Dec 22nd with the film, but there's really no way to predict yet.

Cool! I remember two years ago when FURY ROAD was named best film, it was exciting for me. I'm rooting for THE POST this award season because I'm a huge Spielberg fan, he's my second favorite filmmaker!smile

The full details of the soundtrack album for Steven Spielberg’s drama The Post have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Jurassic Park, Jaws, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The soundtrack will be released physically on January 12, 2018 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Post starring Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Bob Odenkirk, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach Woods tells the story of the unlikely partnership between The Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham and editor Ben Bradlee, as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents. The drama will be released in select theaters on December 22 by 20th Century Fox before expanding nationwide on January 12, 2018. Visit the official movie website for more information.

I know nothing about the film but I would be surprised if it did much business.
Then again, LINCOLN was a big hit!

From an early audience review on Rotten Tomatoes:

On the down side, I found John Williams' music to be a tad maudlin. It's an old school Hollywood score and leans too sappy in the final stretch, a rabble rousing bit of filmmaking which could have sold its moments with something with a little more early 70s edge to its sound. It's also a rare, non-superhero movie with a super-hero style tag at the end, setting itself up for a sequel, or perhaps as a way to get people to watch ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN.

This bodes well. Very much looking forward to score and movie!

So, over at JWFan.com, a member is point out the release is actually shorter -- the eleven-plus minute final cue is actually:

"The Decision and End Credits (11:35) = Presses Roll [01:34-03:28] + The Papers and the Presidents [00:00-01:35] + Ben's Living Room [00:00-2:43] + Wild About Harry [02:00-03:12] + Let's Publish [00:00-03:02] + Setting The Type [00:00-01:09] "

And edit job, so it's about twenty-seven minutes of score. This is the horror days of short LP's.

Horror days of short LPs? What if there's just not that much music in the film?

What if we could speculate without knowing the answer? Then we'd be on the internet!

You appear to be speculating more than anyone else on this thread!

You're the one who speculated on the length of the score being perhaps short. Do you know for a fact it is?

Also, the internet is good for endless pointless back & forths.
