From Roger

Just in time for Halloween -- two spookers for you. One is from mid-80s and only previously on LP. This is expanded. An oddball from an Intrada regular. And we're only pressing 500 of this one. The second is from a late 80s ghost thriller, with a great orchestral score rich in themes, the likes of which we just don't hear anymore. It's a straight reissue of an older CD, with cleaned up assembly. As a bonus is a second disc of a non-film music work by the same composer, which he describes as a work just looking for a film.

If it is TerrorVision and Lady In White, I’m in!

I only have a rip that I made from the isolated score on the Lady In White DVD.

Either way, I’m excited for October horror!!

If it's "TerrorVision," which definitely fits the clue, I'm curious about the expanded material. The LP actually has a finale cue ("Good Morning All") that was dropped from the film.

The second clue is almost certainly "Lady in White," as the previous CD was comprised of five suites & this is a score that would benefit from a traditional presentation. It also isn't hard to imagine that Frank LaLoggia has since composed music that would pair well with "Lady."

Very interesting pair of a releases if they are indeed "TerrorVision" and "Lady in White."

This joke would work better if the movie was an actual thriller. Rimshot!

Hope it is Lady In White, as I haven't got it at all...

I know I usually say if Richard Band's selling, I'm buying, but I don't remember the music making much of an impression on me when I saw TerrorVision some years ago...and I'm sure as hell not revisiting that movie to confirm.

Not sure about the first one... but the second release sounds more like Christopher Young to me.

Just as a wild guess, it might be Flowers in the Attic, or Hider in the House, coupled with something else.

Young has non-film works that most probably sound like film but aren't.

Poltergeist 2....AGAIN?!?!?!?!big grinbig grinbig grinbig grin

Yay! I've been holding out for the 5-disc edition, and it looks like I'll finally be amply rewarded!

One of the discs will surely be "music inspired by Poltergeist 2" and "alternates Goldsmith would have done as guessed by contemporary composers"...

It does sound like Young. Flowers is early 90s. My wish also.

Nope. As much as I wish it were the case, still nope. Flowers was an 1987 film AND it ain’t a “ghost thriller”.

My laziness. It must have been released then. A big hopeful YEP!

How about George Fenton's High Spirits for the second clue? It's orchestral and very thematic - and Fenton seems likely to have some concert works that could be on the second disc.

Sounds very plausible, but ghost « thriller »?

Yeah. I have the GNP album, but just to have it back in print, someone needs to step up. Marvelous score.

My first reaction was that it would be great if the 2nd title would be Philip Sarde's GHOST STORY, which really needs a re-release. But then I realized it's not late 80s (it's 1981). So, alas!
It wouldn't be HIGH SPIRITS as mentioned earlier...that's a comedy, not a ghost thriller.

from Doug's corner

Two new Intrada CD releases arrive this coming Tuesday, October 17. One offers a world CD premier, newly remixed and remastered from original 2” session elements, to an 80’s cosmic horror romp that saw a short-lived LP release in the day. New Intrada presentation also offers a plethora of previously unreleased music. Our other new release is a 2-CD set with one disc devoted to a terrific symphonic score, played by a 70-piece orchestra to another scary tale from the 80’s, albeit this one plays in a more serious manner. Released way back when on an early-ish CD, the musical contents are the same though the entire album has been newly remastered for improved audio. While wholly original music, the talented composer drew inspiration from no less a master than Elmer Bernstein. Accompanying this album is a second disc being offered simply as a “bonus”, featuring original music purely for listening pleasure, described by the above talented composer as soundtrack music in search of a movie. Artwork and sound samples should be available on our site Monday evening, October 16. Halloween is on its way!
