TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

THE FRONTRUNNER---Hugh Jackman posted a photo of his role as Senator Gary Hart, the Democratic candidate who dropped out of the 1988 presidential race after his extramarital affair with Donna Rice.

THE SHAPE OF WATER---Doug Jones talks about his monster character's sex scene with a woman, “He [del Toro] was hesitating when he talked to me, so I asked what were his misgivings. He said, ‘I know you’re a good Catholic boy, I just want to make sure it’s OK with you to play this.’ I asked what could possibly be the problem and he goes, ‘Well, there’s a f**k scene.’ (Laughs.) As only he could say.
When I asked him why this time does it need to involve full-frontal nudity — I mean, we’re going for it! — and he harkened back to the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON and FRANKENSTEIN and any of the classic monster movies that helped develop his love of monsters. There was always a romantic side to these characters and relationships on film that never got actualized all the way. Guillermo said this time, the monster’s going to actually f**k the girl. (Laughs.) A gentler way to say it is that this is the creature from the wet, black lagoon who actually gets the girl this time.”

KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE---the original movie, KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, had a controversial sex scene, "We can do it in the a**hole?". The sequel has another sex scene which will be more controversial and graphic, but no details were released.

mother!---Paramount Pictures head of marketing and distribution Megan Colligan defended the Darren Aronofsky movie which has received a cool reception from critics and movie goers, “This movie is very audacious and brave. You are talking about a director at the top of his game, and an actress at the top her game. They made a movie that was intended to be bold. Everyone wants original filmmaking, and everyone celebrates Netflix when they tell a story no one else wants to tell. This is our version. We don’t want all movies to be safe. And it’s okay if some people don’t like it.”

VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS---Luc Besson said there's a possibility of a sequel, even though it is the most expensive French movie ever made with a $180 million budget and has only taken in $220 million worldwide so far, “I value the Italian option. And there’s still Japan also to open. We still have a couple of countries. But so far there’s a huge, huge fanbase for Valerian. I’m very surprised. Like I receive messages every day, I mean like people screaming for Valerian 2 already. So there’s a community for sure. So it’s positive.”
He added, "Now you stay on screen for like two, three weeks and the VOD very soon, you have the DVD, the TV, so sometimes people they want to see a film and miss it, so they go there. So let’s wait till the end of what we call the first circle. The first circle is really theater, VOD, DVD and to see what is the audience.”

TREMORS---the Syfy pilot sequel to the 1990 Kevin Bacon monster movie has added new cast members. Emily Tremaine will play Emily McKee, Bacon's super-smart daughter. Megan Ketch will play Dr. Mindy Sterngood, the adult version of the pogostick girl in the original movie. Shiloh Fernandez plays Nico Garza who wants out of Perfection, Nevada.

ARTEMIS FOWL---Judi Dench is in talks to co-star in the Kenneth Branagh movie based on the children's fantasy book.

TIME SALVAGER---Michael Bay movie underway based on the young adult novel about time travel in dystopian society. Zak Olkewicz (LIGHTS OUT) will write the script.
