Last fall and this spring, award-winning composer Randy Kerber recorded his score to the dramatic short film, Cello, featuring Grammy-winning artist (and the film’s star) Lynn Harrell on cello. A song Kerber co-wrote with Glen Ballard performed by Lara Fabian was also recorded, and we are delighted to bring our readers photos from the scoring sessions at Sony!
Keep an eye out in the gallery for special visiting guest John Williams!
It's on Spotify. It runs about 38 minutes. Also, if you asked me to guess the composer from the opening cue (A Choice To Be Made), I would say James Horner. I will deffo be buying this CD. I'd love someone to release his gorgeous/poppy synth score to DATE WITH AN ANGEL.
I think any fans missing new scores by James Horner should buy this CD immediately. It's obvious his many years spent working with Horner have rubbed off onto his own compositions, intentional or not. The Cocoon quote at 4 minutes into the opening cue is both touching and delightful. Even the song has that Horner touch to it. After years toiling in orchestration and keyboard performer mode, I'd love for Kerber to have a late career surge in composition. His talent certainly deserves it.
The year Cello came out, if memory serves this was my favorite score release of that year. GORGEOUS writing and the song is just so breathtakingly beautiful. Never saw this video before thanks for posting.
