We are very pleased to announce the release of a new Vincent Gillioz soundtrack.
NO MARRIAGE
Original soundtrack by Vincent Gillioz
Presenting the premiere release of Vincent Gillioz's effervescent score to NO MARRIAGE (2017), the Chinese romantic comedy directed by Wang Zhan, and starring Zhong Zheng and Zhang Qianru. The movie was produced exclusively for the Chinese iQiyi streaming platform, and has garnered 2.75 million views in the first month after it premiered.
This witty, light-hearted score is a departure from Gillioz's dissonant soundscapes, and truly showcases his talents as a superb melodist. The music begins with a pair of memorable themes representing the two youthful leads, together forming the melodic cornerstone of the score, which reappears throughout the movie in various styles and guises, underlining the emotions, whimsy and drama to perfection. This is a gorgeous score that sparkles like diamonds, and reveals a romantic side of Gillioz's musical talent rarely seen.
Based on the highly popular Chinese manga, the movie adaptation tells the story of Gao Xin, a single office lady who faces family and societal pressure following a break-up with her ex-boyfriend. She meets up with the romantically inexperienced software engineer Rong Er, and together, they form a "romantic contract" but unexpectedly, begin to develop unexpected feelings for each other.
This album has been produced and annotated with exclusive liner notes in English and Chinese by Benjamin Chee, with striking art design by the peerless Luis M Rojas. The soundtrack is avaliable digitally on iTunes and CDBaby, with physical copies and sound samples avaliable on Vincent's website. For a limited time, orders placed through Vincent's website will include an insert booklet signed by the composer.
