Hey all,

been doing a coding school camp for last three months and am down to my final project, of which I can pick the topic. I decided I'd do one based on film music and would like some advice on a few resources. Specifically, is there an API that references the composer of a movie (don't think IMDB has one), are there any others related to film music.

The site wonn't be anything as thorough as FSM- I was thinking of creating a user creation account to post/edit/delete reviews, an article page, maybe another API to ebay or itunes; possibly create youtube playlists, basically utilizing whatever developer tools I can. Again, it's for a class.

one last thing I thought would be a good exercise for me would be to show off an online piano showing off the tones and single note keys of common film themes. Any advice on where to learn to build that, incorporate midi tones; etc. That would also be helpful. I assure you, I will be doing all the coding and design, but if anyone can point me in the right direction on points above, I'd be grateful.

Lastly, I'm given a lot of flexibility on the site, both in design, and interactivity (be cool if mobile friendly as well.) So any reasonable suggestions you might have, feel free to make.

Thanks in advance.

There are thousands of WordPress website themes out there, check out themeforest for a boatload of examples:

Building a site like you have in mind is a good WordPress fit, and unless your assignment is to build it from scratch, acquiring & customizing a WP theme would put you way ahead time-wise. Plenty of mobile-friendly themes, and loads of WP plugins too for all kinds of custom content creation. And you have direct access to all the php in the admin, for the coding class aspect.

And seeing how this is a film music board, THE RIFLEMAN remains my CD release of the year!

Thanks for the reply. Wordpress is awesome (as is the entire envato market) and I will be diving into that over the next few weeks once the course is over. HOWEVER, I think I am required to do it from scratch- point of the course smile any other advice would be great!

Rick
