MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 BLADE RUNNER 2049---first official clip released from the sequel. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPMP2AhR-N4 STAR TREK: DISCOVERY---two new trailers were released. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCHHGfk9Pl4 Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-bzFXKXFIE STAR WARS EPISODE IX---an inside source commented on director Colin Trevorrow's departure from EPISODE IX, “There’s one gatekeeper when it comes to Star Wars and it’s Kathleen Kennedy. If you rub Kathleen Kennedy the wrong way – in any way – you’re out. You’re done. A lot of these young, new directors want to come in and say, ‘I want to do this. I want to do that.’ A lot of these guys – Lord and Miller, Colin Trevorrow – got very rich, very fast and believed a lot of their own hype. And they don’t want to play by the rules. They want to do s–t differently. And Kathleen Kennedy isn’t going to f–k around with that.” The source cited Trevorrow's attitude as a problem, “During the making of JURASSIC WORLD he focused a great deal of his creative energies on asserting his opinion. But because he had been personally hired by Spielberg, nobody could say, ‘You’re fired.’ Once that film went through the roof and he chose to do HENRY [Trevorrow] was unbearable. He had an egotistical point of view – and he was always asserting that… He’s a difficult guy. He’s really, really, really confident. Let’s call it that.” Rian Johnson (STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI) commented on rumors that he is the top candidate to replace Trevorrow, “It was never in the plan for me directing Episode 9… I don’t know what’s going to happen. I was entirely focused on Episode 8, so now I’m not really thinking about that right now. Sit down and see who are the next filmmaker.” Johnson also said Joseph Gordon-Levitt will provide the voice for an undisclosed character in THE LAST JEDI. SUPERMAN---Nicolas Cage commented on the aborted 1990s Superman movie he and Tim Burton worked on, “I would offer that the movie that Tim and I would have made, in your imagination, is more powerful than any of the Superman movies. I didn’t even have to make the movie and we all know what that movie would have been in your imagination. That is the Superman. That is the movie. Even though you never saw it – it is the Superman.” THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO---female ABC pilot reboot underway of the superhero series that ran from 1980-1983. The reboot is about Meera, an Indian-American woman from Cleveland “whose talents include tequila drinking and karaoke and not much else. Then some aliens entrust her with a super suit to protect the planet, and the world has never been in more unreliable hands.” The original series starred William Katt, Robert Culp and Connie Sellecca. THE WALKING DEAD---showrunner Scott Gimple addressed rumors and said Season 8 will not include the birth of Maggie's baby, and Rick will not awaken from his coma and realize the entire series was really a dream. STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE---a documentary about DEEP SPACE NINE for its 25th anniversary will include audition tapes of Peter Capaldi (DOCTOR WHO) and Anthony Stewart Head (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER) trying out for the role of Commander Benjamin Sisko. STAN LEE---Lee said he and Leonardo DiCaprio talked about DiCaprio playing Lee in a possible biomovie, "He's a neighbor of mine and we were talking one day some months ago, and he said, 'Boy it'd be fun to do your story on the screen.' So I said, 'Well, Ill audition you.' Gotta make sure the guy can do it." THE LAST TYCOON---Amazon cancelled the series. I'M DYING UP THERE---Showtime renewed the series for Season 2. BLACK KLANSMAN---John David Washington, son of Denzel Washington, is in negotiations to star in this biomovie about black police detective Ron Stallworth who joined the Ku Klux Klan by telephone and went undercover to become head of the local KKK chapter. He used a white officer to represent him in personal meetings and gathered intelligence on the KKK's nefarious activities. Spike Lee is the director. MOUSE GUARD---20th Century Fox live-action/CGI movie underway based on the graphic novel. Wes Ball (THE MAZE RUNNER) is in talks to direct.

Black Klansman sounds interesting, there must be a book about it that I'd becinterestrd in reading. I'd avoid a biopic about Stan Lee. Sounds like it's just be a love fest. You just know they'll CGI him into marvel films after he's long dead. His cameos immediately rip me out of those films.

It's clear big Hollywood want nothing more than a "yes" men, a robot. Film making has become an assembly line business laid out by the suits. No creativity or personal touch aloud. Just assemble the pre-selected components into the final product.

Methinks her time and power over Star Wars is waining.

Been out of town. Thank you, Deputy R, for your very kind words. I appreciate you. Actually, I have always gotten along with LC, but I did say I didn't like the joke or stereotype. I kind of figured the Jack N. scene wasn't directed at me but maybe at himself. If it was directed at me, then I could certainly have a raging temper tantrum sans any class or filters. We're talking about a reboot of an older series, hence the use of an old joke - meant ironically, not offensively. I qualified where I was coming from by mentioning a super woman parody (SUPER EX GIRLFRIEND) but that was ignored and offense taken instead, so I played up the Archie Bunker/Homer Simpson angle. I thought Joan "got it" (understood the joking reference), and I didnt think she shamed me, but the circumstance reminded me of Jack's situation and apology...which was probably insincere when you consider that film character, he's like an evil Archie Bunker. So if I really meant the joke seriously, that would be the kind of apology I'd offer. I'm only sorry noone "got it" from the start and the waste of energy in the blame game. If anything, it was Deputy Riley who wanted the joke spelled out but then took it literally, so throw him in the pokey.
