Dang! This score really grows on me with each listening. I've seen the movie twice and think in the best parts, the score fits the movie (the visuals, the atmosphere) like a glove. I do have my own playlist that omits all songs as well as the tracks Furnace, Hijack and Her Eyes Were Green.

Right. I know there's another thread about this score, but that has become a cry of pain about the debacle that is the limited edition CD.
This might be a safer place to discuss the music wink
I originally ordered that beaut, thinking it was gonna be the only way to own it on CD. I was one of the lucky ones.
Anyway, I subsequently saw the film, which I didn't enjoy and heard little within the score that excited me.
But over the past few weeks I've been playing it a lot on Spotify and I now think it's one of the best electronic scores I've heard in years.
It's beautifully textural and ambient at times, but also bracing and harsh too.
It does what great film music has done for me down the years. It transports me to another place, irrespective of the film and my opinion of it. In fact, like many Jerry Goldsmith scores I own, it makes me re imagine the film in a better way.
I've just bagged a copy of the CD off amazon marketplace for £7 (sorry other thread people) and I imagine it will form a large part of my Christmas listening play list.

I did find the music very effective in the film and look forward to listening to it on its own some day. I imagine there is a lot to explore and enjoy there apart from the picture.

(And yes, I think it would be a very good idea to have this thread to exclusively discuss the score itself. No need to drag all the drama surrounding its release here too.)

I think this score is outstanding. Such a wonderful sonic soundscape. Zimmer and Wallfisch did an incredible job.

Sorry to bring something positive into this thread, but I’m really enjoying listening to the lossless version of “Sea Wall”, which is probably my favorite new cue of this year so far.
Just gonna let those synth waves wash over me.

Swear to god, I thought this was the best movie I’ve seen all year. An even better mystery than the Murder on the Orient Express movie.
But I wouldn’t pay for this CD in any configuration. It’s not that interesting as music.
Besides, the record company has put the entire officially sanctioned album tracks on YouTube, which—after listening—I decided wasn’t to my taste as music. Works great in the movie, though.

I found the music fascinating within the film itself. Haven’t heard it outside that context yet. There is another thread strictly about the music (with about 8 replies). This thread has been focused exclusively on the physical release.

Let the POSITIVE VIBES FLOW!!! smile
(the above posts have been magically transported over from the BR2049 Ltd Ed thread, for fear of reprisals) wink

I was the opposite of above posted comment.
I didn't care for the film and the music left hardly any impression on me.
But after a few plays on spotify, it grew on me and the CD is on it's way to me.

Oh funny, I just posted to Mutant in the other BR thread that he should've posted his comments about the score (particularly the magical, transportational "Sea Wall") in this thread if'n he wanted to talk about "the music" or enjoy "positivity" and a-what not. Looks like someone beat me to it!
