Lanois didn't write many scores, only this one and Sling Blade, plus some documentaries.

The opening and end credits for this 1984 film sounded interesting, like an ambient Peter Gabriel/Brian Eno score or something. Maybe not too surprising.

I guess there never was an album of this?

He actually plays here in my hometown tomorrow, I consider going. I also saw him in 1993.

Lanois is a genius and this is a very cool cut of music. Sadly, to my knowledge and after asking around a bit, it seems pretty clear that this has never seen the light of day.
