I think the last set of cool releases were in March this year, March 13 by the looks of it.

Anyone heard any rumblings about the next release? smile

Indeed, we are due a batch. Just three Club releases this year. Perhaps the We Hear you releases also count towards how many limited CDs they want to release in a year?

I've been hoping for THE MONEY PIT ever since drivingmissdaisy mentioned it a while back.

A release of the film score to BRAINSTORM would be nice too. This one's been asked for in every Varese thread since the dawn of man.

I was going to ask myself in a post. Its been quite a while since their last batch. Hoping for some news!

While we know of the many titles they can't release, the fact they have the rights to...
THE COWBOYS by JOHN WILLIAMS
...and (maybe) stepped in to stop the proposed expansion that was gonna be in that John Wayne Box set, I hope they get around to doing justice to this classic JW score, the likes of which it truly deserves, sooner rather than later.

Some think from Varese's catalogue that's unreleased to cd, or Blood in Blood Out, what's the deal with this Conti score.

Imagine this batch:

THE COWBOYS: The Deluxe Edition (John Williams)
DOLORES CLAIBORNE: The Deluxe Edition (Danny Elfman)
BRAINSTORM: The Deluxe Edition (James Horner, with both film and album recordings)
CARLITO'S WAY: The Deluxe Edition (Patrick Doyle)

Or this batch:

SPHERE: The Deluxe Edition (Elliot Goldenthal)
MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN: The Deluxe Edition (Shirley Walker)
EYE OF THE NEEDLE: The Deluxe Edition (Miklos Rozsa, with both film and album recordings)
MISTS OF AVALON: The Deluxe Edition (Lee Holdridge)

Or this batch:

ON DEADLY GROUND: The Deluxe Edition (Basil Poledouris)
PETER PAN: The Deluxe Edition (James Newton Howard)
MOUSE HUNT: The Deluxe Edition (Alan Silvestri)
THE SECRET GARDEN: The Deluxe Edition (Zbigniew Priesner)

All titles Varese controls and no one else can expand as far as I know. People would flip out and sing hosannas if any of these batches came out, and that's without me including a single one of the many Goldsmith titles they control! (I also didn't include any "lower profile" titles they control but which would make me personally ecstatic if they put out at 1000 copies, such as Debney's PAULIE: The Deluxe Edition or Eidelman's CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS: THE DISCOVERY: The Deluxe Edition or Raksin's FOREVER AMBER: The Deluxe Edition which as the composer's magnum opus would surely qualify as "high profile" to Varese if it weren't a Golden Age score.)

Yavar, you have a beautiful imagination.

seaQuest DSV: THE DELUXE EDITION

MOUSE HUNT: The Deluxe Edition (Alan Silvestri)

There's, at best, one more opportunity this year for a Club date. It's the film's 20th anniversary (and one of Silvestri's most underrated scores), so it would be criminal for the label not to put this out.

In all seriousness, the scores that haven't seen "unofficial" expansions should take priority, in my opinion. I'd gladly pay to have Deluxe Editions of Witness or Dead Poets Society, for example

"Predator"! ;-)

The Super Karate Monkey Death Deluxe Edition:

CD 1: A new mastering.
CD 2: The first Intrada version with crossfades and a missing cue.
CD 3: The Varese release from inferior tapes and maybe brickwalled.
CD 4: The main theme as redone by other composers.

And a big thick liner notes book.

Hopefully we get John Barry's rejected score to Year of the Comet at some stage.

Well, another Goldsmith expansion does seem a bit overdue at this point, doesn't it? Been quite a while since they released The Omen complete, and that was only a slight expansion of course because of the previous Deluxe Edition. There are so many left to do!

Personally I'd go for SMALL SOLDIERS: The Deluxe Edition before anything else...

1) LEVIATHAN: The Deluxe Edition
2) THE FINAL CONFLICT: 35th Anniversary Edition (Or which ever anniversary)
3) AIR FORCE ONE: The Deluxe Edition

Panic Room-complete!

Hear, hear! I would be most happy to have an expanded/complete release of this brooding, immersive music by one of our finest composers. More Shore, I say cool

Varese's Question of the Day Today on Twitter and Facebook:

Question Of The Day:

Our CD Club has been going strong for 28 years starting with Cherry 2000 in 1989 and most recently with Stanley & Iris Deluxe/Pete 'N' Tilly.

What have been your top two favorite Club releases?

Hopefully a sign that an announcement's on the way. smile
