I'm going for sure, it's one of my favorite films and I never got to see it in theaters! What about you guys?

Absolutely. I never got to see it in theaters, either.

I don't even know which version will be shown, and honestly it doesn't matter to me. Seeing any version of this film on the big screen will be something to look forward to.

Hi Joe! I also don't know which version will be shown, but it will be a nice surprise no matter which version.

I saw it in the theatre when it opened near the end of 1977.
Have fun. It's worth it.

Same here. I got to see Jaws on the big screen for the first time for its 40th anniversary reissue two years ago, and it was one of the best theater experiences I have had in years...the audience was respectful and were all laughing and screaming at all the right moments. eek big grin Hope to hell to add CE3K to my big-screen experiences list. smile

Saw it around four times on the big screen during it's initial release. John Williams was on such a role back then!

That makes me feel really OLD, henry. wink I saw it numerous times on its initial release. The only films I saw in a theater more times than this one were "STAR WARS" (the most) and "JAWS". (It's no wonder I developed such a love for John Williams' music! smile)

I saw it on its initial release, but my neighborhood theater only had mono sound. It would be worth seeing it again just to hear it.

Pardon my ignorance, guys, but what screening are you talking about?

Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The OP doesn't use the full title for some reason (in fact, the entire thread didn't prior to this post!).

It's showing again in some theaters for its 40th anniversary. Not sure where or when though.

I only did it because I thought it was some kind of running joke. (Kind of like our "Predator 2 - Complete" references people would post every once in a while in various threads.) Anyway henry, I saw it posted several times above, and thought we were "supposed to". wink I don't even know what it means either, to be honest. I mean, do people NOT know what film you're talking about when someone says, "Raiders", "Temple of Doom" or "Last Crusade" when talking about movies? I wouldn't think so....

Hi buddy!smileIt's fine, I just didn't understand why everyone was posting it. And yeah, I thought everyone would know what I meant with just CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, plus I couldn't fit the whole title in the Subject box.
