I thought it was really quite poor. It also looks cheap, especially the alternate universe. Talented cast who are wasted. There's one scene that feels really out of place and something from a Scanners sequel. You can't miss that scene, which was actually pretty decent. The pacing is pretty bad in it too.
Known around here as someone who doesn't like anything beloved or successful, no. I would argue, Fant4stic, Jem, Tomorrowland (which I generally love) are no worse than Jurassic World, Force Awakens, or Guardians of the Galaxy. And I'm not being factious.
Some films get a bad rap because of gang mentality. Same goes for those films which are not very good but are "universally" adored. That's not to say Fant4stic doesn't have major issues and there's obvious changes in tone from scene to scene, especially during the last quarter of the film.
FANT4STIC....was FANT4STICALLY poor in my opinion on every count: Acting, Storyline, Action! Not worth rebooting! Prefer the F1RST two movies with Jessica Alba etc...

Didn't like Alba as a blonde. Looks kinda weird on someone of Latina (or Asian) decent. IMHO.
I really hope that the original director's cut comes out one day, I'm sure this one is still before the courts.
The titles on the soundtrack CD don't match the film - so that's an indication of what might have been. I'd love to hear from Beltrami or Glass on what version they based their score on.
Thought the movie was more meh than outright terrible. The cast was fine (esp. Michael B. Jordan), but the script was rather half-baked (even before the obvious reshoots). I'd probably put it on a par with the Roger Corman version.

I don't know about all of those, but I love Tomorrowland. I'm very disappointed by its poor reception.

Just watched FANT4STIC and I can honestly say, not really being a fan of Super Hero movies, I truly enjoyed it more than MAN OF STEEL and BATMAN VS SUPERMAN which I thought were over produced, cold, and just a lot of noise. All the actors in FANT4STIC were great in their parts and I enjoyed this telling of the Origin Story. If he wrote the main themes Marco Beltrami's score was great in the picture. I thought the running time was perfect and if they put out a sequel or continuing story I would definitely get the DVD and check it out. The only thing I can really say that was off about it was just Sue Storm's changing hair but even that was no major big deal. Maybe she just washed and blow dried it at different times. And maybe when she was in power mode her hair got blonder and more flowing looking as an effect of her condition? Why not?
I liked the movie. I'd gladly welcome seeing a Director's Cut version.

Weren't a lot of finished action scenes (and CGI) cut out of the film or regulated to flash-backs on small monitor screens? I believe a pretty cool shot in the previews didn't even appear in the film. I kinda liked the direction the film was going in, (I've tired of the whole MCU thing) but it still had story and characterization issues.
This Marvel and super hero movie phase can't disappear in the rearview mirror fast enough...
Oh, I'm more than fine with it, as long as the movies are good. Some of them are, some of them aren't (as with westerns, rom-coms, or anything else), but it's not as though there's something inherently wrong with the genre.
Lots of footage in the two official trailers were not in the film: TEASER:

Also lots of extra scenes here in the B-Roll Footage suggesting that they would be pursuing Victor using Reed's flying car - lots of foreshadowing and build up about this in the film.
It's hopeless movie that bears very little similarity to the comic book. Casting is awful, the script risible, the action sequences the most lacklustre of any superhero movie I have ever seen and I can't even remember the score.
