I read somewhere that he was fired from TNG because his music was TOO good.... is that true? "They"
wanted bland music, and he refused... or am I misremembering it all?

It's true that you read that, as I've read that too. But that's not really an accurate assessment of what happened.

Basically, he wasn't willing to compromise. Berman wanted music that blended more into the background (which is his taste). McCarthy adapted to this, Jones didn't. I'm honestly surprised they didn't fire him sooner, given how jarring the different musical approaches became in seasons 3 and 4.

Oh man, those online liner notes for the Ron Jones set are so good...I just spend a half hour reading them without realizing it. Thanks again for your great work on that project, Lukas and co.
