According to press release from StarWars.com :

"The untitled Han Solo movie will be scored in the style of the original Star Wars movies, but retain Powell’s distinctive voice."

So, in other words, a faux SW score. Better than a non SW score I guess.

Always happy to see a new scoring assignment for Powell. That it coincides with "Han Solo" is even better news!

Anyone breathing a huge sigh of relief that Ron Howard wasn't allowed to bring Zimmer onboard?

How is that even possible when it IS a Star Wars score?

Yes. But only today. Who knows what another SW Ron Howard-directed movie composer choice will be if Powell is busy...

Unless John Williams plans to live for another eighty-five years, it has to happen at some point.

Anyone breathing a huge sigh of relief that Ron Howard wasn't allowed to bring Zimmer onboard?

Anyone sighing that Howard didn't get to do this while James Horner was still alive? frown

Even if Horner was still alive there is no guarantee that Howard would have hired him for this movie. Howard hadn't worked with Horner in a number of years, having moved on to other composers for whatever reasons, same as how Ridley Scott no longer hires Zimmer.

It already did happen... Rogue One, remember?
