For those of you interested, Beal's music for the Putin interviews is an extension of his House of Cards sound, with some Russian influences. Not a bad score. If you are a fan of the music of House of Cards, it is worth picking up.

Has anyone heard The Lightkeepers? A lot of Jeff Beal titles are on sale, I guess in celebration of two Beal titles in this Limited Edition batch, and I've been interested in this one in particular.

Yeah... Lightkeepers is fantastic and could be his best score to date... if the producer of the CD showed some common sense and the album was actually produced rather than got everything spread over two CDs no matter how repetitive it gets...
If it was a 40-50 minute CD it would be fantastic! In this version it gets boring and almost unbearable rather quickly. So it depends on your preferences.

I think Varese need to rebrand again.
How about 'The Ones Everybody Wants' Editions, 'The Sh!t Ones' Editions and the 'Never 'Eard Of Them' Editions!!??

'The Shit Ones' and the 'Never 'Eard Of Them' Editions cost Varese very little money to produce and that's what they like in their Beverly Hills office. I was hoping for more exciting times from Varese; especially after they released BAREFOOT IN THE PARK/ THE ODD COUPLE and STANLEY AND IRIS/ PETE 'N' TILLIE. Oh well !

There are, every year, hundreds of CDs released that I have no interest in buying. I don't understand why these Varèse releases always seem to offend so many here.

Probably because Intrada, La-La Land and Kritzerland have more of a personal touch?

I would have to agree, Intrada and LLL do have more of a personal touch than Varese. Varese was number one for many years on the 20th Century, but now Intrada and LLL usually take my money!

They think of themselves as armchair producers and Varese is a serivce, and they always "want fries with that".

There really needs to be a thread devoted to obscure scores, championed in a spotlight of praise, and only one per poster. Present YouTube clips if available, and choose wisely.

Maybe to you they are shit, too me or others they might be interesting, Jeff Beal does do some handy TV scores, you have heard Monk, Stone Cold, less of the slagging.
