I haven't seen the link for this yet but I HAVE to give a heads up for it. Kritzerland gives these almost monthly concerts upstairs at the Federal Bar & Grill in North Hollywood on the first sunday of the month. Usually they do Broadway composers but this time it is Henry Mancini and if it is Kritzerland then you will hear stuff you will not hear ANY other place. One I know is "He Shouldn't-A, Oughtn't-A Swang On Me!" from THE GREAT RACE. But I wouldn't be surprised to hear maybe "The Shadows of Paris" from A SHOT IN THE DARK, SOLDIER IN THE RAIN, "Dreamland" or the title song from PETER GUNN or my favorite "There's Enough to Go Around" from GAILY, GAILY. along with the classics. Whatever Bruce comes up with I will let you know when reservations begin. If you ever wanted to make it to one of these, this is THE one. His shows are always good and sometimes great so it isn't a gamble at all.

I think I'll go to this one.

Surely they'll let you sing Sinatra with the paraphrase "I did it....haineshisway."

Sigh. Wish I'd live closer to LA. On the other hand, I live in Canada, so I'm doing great really.

I think the Kritzerland shows should be of interest to all us collectors. Their subjects can be a little like tea leaves, if you know what I mean.

He HAS played upcoming items in his shows but mostly these are based on previously recorded CDs. As many classic film songs he has had performed, what stays with me are the ones no one would play like Elmer Bernstein’s LOVE WITH THE PROPER STRANGER, Marvin Hamlisch’s “Through The Eyes Of Love” ICE CASTLES, Burt Bacharach’s THE APRIL FOOLS, David Shire’s THE PROMISE , Andre Previn’s “You’re Going To Hear From Me” INSIDE DAISY CLOVER, Stephen Sondheim’s “I Never Do Anything Twice” SEVEN PER CENT SOLUTION and Sylvia Fine’s “I’ll Take You Dreaming” THE COURT JESTER.

These are why I go to these fantastic shows.

Song list is finalized - so hard to choose, so we're doing a lot of what I call put-togethers so we're getting many more songs than usual - his songs, for the most part, are very short. But I'm telling you right here and now and also right now and here there will be a few things in this show you've never heard before. And we have a great cast.

This is such a drag! I'll actually be in L.A. a couple weeks later on a business trip, and if this concert were on the 20th I could come in a day early and catch it. Any chance for a reschedule? wink

It's "Dreamsville" from "Peter Gunn" not "Dreamland"

Very hard to choose, as always. But we're doing a lot of stuff, because I'm putting songs together - more songs that way. We are doing a Gaily song but not the one that's listed here - we're doing the main song, which I love.

Mancini didn't do that much Americana so really look forward to this:

HERE IS BRUCE'S BLURB:

Hey all - that time again.  I fell in love with the music of Henry Mancini when I was eleven years old and have been in love with it ever since.  So, this one’s very special to me.  Book soon - great cast, great songs - read on, MacDuff.

For the 79th Kritzerland show, we present the magical music of Mancini - Henry Mancini, one of the most successful film composers and songwriters in history. From Peter Gunn to Mr. Lucky, to Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Charade, Days of Wine and Roses to Two for the Road, The Pink Panther and Hatari, and straight through to first the film of Victor/Victoria and then the stage version, Mancini Magic has been the music of people’s lives. Working with such great lyricists as Johnny Mercer, Hal David, Leslie Bricusse, and Marilyn and Alan Bergman, Mancini’s had many number one hit songs, won three Oscars and numerous other awards. So, join us for an evening of some incredibly beautiful and tuneful music - you’ll hear a lot of your Mancini favorites and classics, and being a Kritzerland show we can guarantee you you’ll be hearing some things you haven’t heard before. We’ve assembled a great cast, along with the brilliant guitarist Grant Geissman. You’ll want to book this one early. How many do we think will come? I predict you and the people you're bringing and exactly no one else from this board who lives right here in LA - we could name their names of course, but why smile

The three titles you list aren't the only rarities, trust me on this.

Bruce has gone out of his Haineway for this one. Two themes from the early score HIGH TIME he has put to lyrics. These will obviously be world premieres!
