I'm very surprised to find out that Zavod's death doesn't seem to have been mentioned here at all. He passed away in november 2016.

Imdb credits him with 23 scores written between 1981 and 1999. He scored many films directed by Philippe Mora, and also films by directors like Scott Hicks and Carl Franklin.

I was only familiar with 1989's Communion, where he worked with Eric Clapton.

Seems like he worked with both electronic and orchestral music as well as jazz, and he used to play in Frank Zappa's band.

The only film of Zavod's that I've seen was the 1990 sci-fi comedy MARTIANS GO HOME in which Randy Quaid plays a songwriter and film composer. It was so long ago that I remember nothing of the score.

I saw Zavod with Frank Zappa's band in the early 80's and also with Jean-Luc Ponty's band in the 70's. He was very gifted and imaginative behind a full set of keyboards whether furiously improvising alongside Ponty's violin or laying great textures on Zappa's complex pieces. I never heard his film music. What was it like?

I noticed that one of the film scores excerpted in the compilation in the above posting, a Wonderful World of Disney episode entitled "Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story," does not appear in Zavod's IMDB filmography. That's because the IMDB credits the score to Bill Elliott. Perhaps Zavod only did the big band sound-alike track for the montage shown in the clip.

Regardless, Zavod seems to have had one heck of a musical life, as evidenced by the lists here:

Martians Go Home! had a bit with the main character's hack credentials solidified by his hearing a phrase on his car radio and copying it down for his arranger! That was one of the few memorable bits of the movie (which completely smashed the "Martians come to Earth and annoy everyone" part of the storyline, but forgot that the "everyone" bit wasn't supposed to include the people watching the movie)...
