The one with the Jackman Up Is Down track and the nice Love Theme and the Morricone style knock-off cue (I think it's 3) is my fave. One is too synthy sounding and I find 2 a bit dull. I never made it through 4 (the lots of Spanish guitar one?) and I ain't heard 5.
Haha...but c'mon. The past 17 years have had a decent number of great music written. A lower percentage than before, but still...Howard Shore did Middle Earth this new millennium. That's gotta count for something. I guess I might call Pirates 3 one of the "most fun"...
Loved it then and love it now! It's absolutely harmless, and is a film score series filled to the brim with themes and leitmotifs in a time when we're running low on both.

Yep, the movies have become just awful, but the scores are tremendous fun. Not intended to be Oscar material but they're just plain fun and i love playing them loud. Agreed the third one may be the best, but they all have great moments, right up to Geoff Zanelli's latest installment.

Yavar
Well, Lord of the Rings would bring the count to four. That's not a lot out of 17 years. I'm sure there room for Pirates 3. AND How to Train Your Dragon.
I have tried numerous times to appreciate these scores, but despite some great themes, I just don't enjoy listening to them. I think this comes down to taste, they are just not to my taste. Primarily, I think it is the way the orchestra's colours are lost in the mix.
