Yes I have been trying to log in for several days now. It started last week when it didn't recognize my password. Is there any other site that is popular or better than soundtrack collector?
Same problem for me, too. Initially I was concerned that my account details may have been hacked but found that by following the forgot password route I was able to access my account a.o.k.
Updating my p/w manager I found a note saying I'd done the same in Nov 15. Maybe it's a way of forcing members to change their passwords ... at least once in 18 months!
And, yes, the site is indispensable for our music hobby
If we're talking about the same site, I must admit that I didn't even know you could sign in! I've never done that - I only consult it to check the details of soundtrack releases. I've just been there and clicked on their forum. Didn't know they had one! Excuse my ignorance, but what are the advantages of being a member there (apart from participating in the forum, which doesn't look like it gets much traffic)?
Graham, I guess the main advantage is (or at least it is for me) that you can create/build your collection using SoundtrackCollector's database. There's also a feature called "Display for printing" which shows the covers of your score collection + additional info. Furthermore you can create a "Wish list" and a list of your favorite composers.
Concerning the "trouble": I also had problems recently logging in to the point that I have requested a new password. Just a few moments ago I had no problems whatsoever. I guess this will be fixed eventually.

Ah, I see, orbital. Thanks. It sounds too complicated for me. I'll stick with my jotters.
I messaged them early morning on the 12th, they replied to my work-email, it was hacked.
Thanks. My concern is more technical. If they got the passwords when they hacked the site, users are vulnerable if they use those passwords on any of their other accounts and in particular their email snd/or financial accounts.
What would be more responsible would be for them to send email to all users with some details or post something on their site. Not just creating a reset. More responsible sites do that.
The site was down for a couple of days, but it's back up and working now. I jumped through the password-changing hoops. It sent me a new password, I used it and it let me back in. Then it sent me another password change. I guess I'm meant to change the password a second time.
I wish the administrators would fix the long-standing problems with the site. For example, Chinatown was composed by Jerry Goldsmith. It says so on the official releases. So why do they put "Philip Lambro, rejected score" with and before the actual composer Jerry Goldsmith? Lambro and rejected score doesn't belong there at all. That belongs on the Lambro CD. Or putting the Asian film titles on CD's that carry the English title. Put the same title on the entry that the CD has. It's fine to put the film's original title in sub-line or parenthesis, but don't put a different title on the entry than the CD has. Just follow basic elementary school indexing practices.
I know Soundtrack Collector need to do better on there Japanese listings, Data-base, I have two hundred scores i can't list any. I've tried mailing them with all details, they don't respond to list nothing.
I signed up with an old e-mail I no longer have access to so I haven't been able to log in for the last 18 months. Got no response when I e-mailed for help, so fuck it. I ain't rebuilding my collection from scratch.
