I guess so. Presumably this is the live-action movie he said he was doing before Cars 3, ages ago.

While The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) puts Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson, Grace Van Patten, Candice Bergen and Adam Driver onscreen, the film's writer-director, Noah Baumbach, was incredibly excited to collaborate with a particular someone offscreen: Randy Newman, who provided the score for the upcoming Netflix title. “It was just a knock-your-socks-off kind of experience,” Baumbach told reporters Wednesday during a New York Film Festival press conference. “Most of it is him [Newman] playing live to the movie, there’s almost no edits. It’s almost like a narrator in some way, another personality.” Baumbach explained that Newman composed a piano-centric score because Sandler’s musician character plays that instrument. The songwriter began sending major themes to Baumbach the day after their initial meeting, and also contributed the music to a sweet tune sung by Sandler and Van Patten (and written with Sandler and Baumbach). Baumbach also noted that he cried during the first take of Bergen’s monologue, and lauded Hoffman’s ability to make his unlikeable character “attractive and understandable.” He also reasserted to reporters that The Meyerowitz Stories was “designed to put it into theaters,” which is “an undying experience. … Netflix acquired it in post and they’ve been great, but I think like many filmmakers, this is the way you’re supposed to see it,” he said, pointing to the big screen behind him. Netflix will release The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) in limited theaters and on its streaming platform on Oct. 13.

Wow, looking forward to this, sounds great. Shame there's unlikely to be a score release though (or is there?)

On one of the Randy Newman newsgroups that I belong to, someone said that they'll likely do a digital release of this. Since it sounds like it's just Randy and a piano (for most of it), I can't imagine it would be that expensive to put out.

Since it sounds like it's just Randy and a piano (for most of it), I can't imagine it would be that expensive to put out. Given that Baumbach's films are almost never score-dominated (Mistress America may be the only one with a substantial amount of scoring), it could be that Newman's work isn't long enough for a disc release. But, as always, still hoping.
