SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---new trailer released.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0D3AOldjMU

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI---new photos released show Luke Skywalker, Leia, Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern) and "DJ" (Benecio del Toro).
Director Rian Johnson said THE LAST JEDI begins on the planet Ahch-To with Luke living among an "indigenous race of caretaker creatures...not Ewoks" who live in "beehive-shaped huts." Vice Admiral Holdo is "a prominent officer in the Resistance" and del Toro plays "a shady character of unclear allegiances."
Johnson said another scene occurs in Canto Bight which is a “glittering casino city...a Star Wars Monte Carlo–type environment, a little James Bond–ish, a little To Catch a Thief.” He added, “It was an interesting challenge, portraying luxury and wealth in this universe. I was thinking, O.K., let’s go ultra-glamour. Let’s create a playground, basically, for rich a**holes.”

MIDWAY---Roland Emmerich (INDEPENDENCE DAY) will direct this World War II movie about the Battle of Midway which was the turning point in the Pacific Theater six months after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Wes Tooke (COLONY) is writing the script.

TOP GUN 2---Tom Cruise confirmed the sequel to the original 1986 movie is underway, “It’s true. I’m going to start filming it, probably in the next year.”

GAME OF THRONES---Season 7 poster shows the Night King.

CHARLIE'S ANGELS---the latest Sony Pictures movie reboot of the ABC female cop series is underway with Elizabeth Banks as director. Janelle Monae (MOONLIGHT) is the top candidate to play one of the Angels. The previous movies premiered in 2000 and 2003. The original tv series ran on ABC from 1976-1981.

DEADPOOL 2---Jack Kesy (THE STRAIN) will play a major villain in the sequel. Speculation is that Kesy will play Black Tom Cassidy.

THE ASSASSINATION OF GIANNI VERSACE: AMERICAN CRIME STORY---photo released of Penelope Cruz playing Donnatella Versace in the FX crime anthology series.

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK---director Doug Liman left the movie due to a schedule conflict.

TWIN PEAKS---the Showtime premiere drew a disappointing 506,000 viewers. However, Showtime said the main goal was to increase signups for Showtime Any Time and Showtime On Demand. TWIN PEAKS accomplished this goal with the network's biggest one day and weekend signups ever.

FEVER---BBC America miniseries underway based on the novel about Mary Mallon, "Typhoid Mary", who spread typhoid fever across New York in the early 20th century. Elisabeth Moss (MAD MEN) stars.

HANNA---Amazon tv series underway based on the 2011 movie about a teenage girl who is raised to be an assassin by her ex-CIA agent father.

ADRIFT---Shailene Woodley (DIVERGENT) and Sam Claflin (THE HUNGER GAMES) star in this movie based on the true story of Tami Oldham who must save herself and her fiance when they are caught up in a record-setting hurricane as they sail to Hawaii.

JEEPER'S CREEPERS---the third movie has finished filming. Gina Phillips returns as Trish Jenner who must save her son from The Creeper. Phillips said the script for the fourth movie has been written.

LUCKY NUMBER---horror movie underway about an NBA star who makes a deal with the devil to become a deadly killer. This this will be the first of a "sporror" sports/horror movie franchise.

GRECCHUS:

I hope it's better than the MIDWAY starring Charlton Heston showing F6F Hellcats and F4U Corsairs at Midway.
I'm still ticked off Warner Bros. canned the Bruce McKenna (BAND OF BROTHERS) Midway movie from a few years ago.

Oh come on! Why not bring back T.J. Hooker instead?

That, The Rookies and Family are the only series mentioned in the link above that haven't had a remake attempted.

Let's hope they can 'can' this big fat lady, before she sinks! And just one more small thing - as you say, get it done without resorting to cliches, both old and new. No X-Wing whooshey flybys! A serious, documentary-like approach would be most refreshing - well done, fairly static POVs from the deck to establish a more realistic newsreel footage effect. That would be the challenge - to make it look real with subtle camera moves without resorting to video-game styled displacements we never see in actual newsreel footage. And please, no Nicholas Cage slo-mo 'sunglass hunk' moves. Just a bit of history brought to life without over-dramatics would be nice.

Sigh...Love the idea of a new film about Midway. Emmerich? - Not so much.

Thanks for the update! smile

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---new trailer released.

Jeez, this does nothing for me. Too much tech in the suit. Stark's creepy "getting the door," a celebrity villain. Yawn.

Honestly, this doesn't look at better than the Raimi or Webb films. This just takes place in the MCU.

I agree with you about the tech in the suit..I think that's what has put me off about this reboot. I stopped reading Spidey comics before he started getting all the tech suits, however I do keep in touch with the character and understand how it fits in the MCU. But it's just not...the Spidey I know and like. I get they have to appeal to a new audience but Spiderman to me was not about the gee whiz costume but about the struggle of Peter balancing his personal and hero life.

But isn't that what this movie is about? Based on the trailers the impression I get is that it starts with the tech in the suit, then Stark takes away the bells and whistles and spidey needs to figure it out on his own.

I would love if it ends up with Peter realizing he doesn't need the tech and winds up with his own suit with just his shooters and his powers. At least they let him create his own web shooters.

I'm just kinda weary of the whole "Tony Stark" persona. And, not for anything, I was really invested in the Peter Parker of the last two films. Losing Gwen was shattering and I really wanted to see where they were going with him. Sadly, the rest of ASM2 kinda sucked...

What is going on with the sepia tint on the Last Jedi images? It looks dingy and terrible. I hope the entire film does not look like this.

Yeah, on the Spiderman thing, and Tony Stark, I do not know who cares about this film. And it seems like Downey is just sleepwalking through his $20+ million paychecks, which is great work if you can get it, I gotta give him credit for bouncing back from has been actor in repeat rehabs to making absurd amounts of money. But the movies he is doing are pretty darn dull.

Re: Star Wars images- Yeah, don't make me go on another rant!

Re: Spider-Man- I agree here too. While I find most MCU films boring nowadays I thought bringing Spider-Man under it's banner would breath some life into the title character. I don't hate what I've seen, but the trailers are just so ho-hum.

The MCU is planting Downey in everything because they're milking his presence before he finally signs off after Infinity War.

Or so he says. He could always change his mind. Not long ago, he tweeted a picture of himself holding a sign: "Sherlock Holmes 3 or Iron Man 4?"

Well, Bob, obviously whatever pays more...right? wink

And Spider-Man: Homecoming looks dreadful. I don't like this new Holland guy at all. He's annoying.

I think Sherlock Holmes 3 is off the rails since Guy Ritchie's last two pictures were pretty big failures. Downey has plenty of money, it is baffling why he continues making this crap, he could be doing interesting films, I guess it is all about money.

One thing I've learned is you can't have to much money. It's a sickness. Second comes ego. Yeah, sure RDJ could make serious art films, but it won't keep his name in lights. In fact it would probably devalue his "worth", which leads us to back to money.

Downey isn't averse to doing movies that aren't blockbusters. Check out The Judge. Good movie.

That doesn't mean anything. How many flops has Depp been in these last few years? He's getting plenty of work. Ritchie is the director of the forthcoming Aladdin (starring Will Smith) for Disney, and you know that will make big dough.

Movie star movie failure and director movie failure are not at all the same thing. The buck stops with the director
You can expect Disney to drop Ritchie from Aladdin, and Will Smith is not a draw since, well, I cannot recall when.
