Three more days! I pre-ordered mine from Amazon, but delivery date is sometime after the 10th.
I thought if you pre-order they deliver by the "release date". Or don't they do that anymore?

I just checked my amazon pre-order and mine still says I should have delivery on Fri Aug 4th... maybe they have allocated so much stock for pre-orders and need more stock to fill remaining orders? Who knows sometimes when release date comes or before the status changes.

Do you have Amazon Prime? If you do, you get it release day...if you don't, you wait. At least that is what I have seen.

It's official; Robin Hood is now available -- and I finally have my grubby mitts on it!

By the by, has anyone heard news concerning future Legacy Collections? I know there have been rumors floating around about some potential releases, such as "Beauty and the Beast" or "Snow White", but I'm hoping for some concrete announcements. More unreleased scores would be particularly delightful. "The Rescuers" and "Ichabod and Mr. Toad" are two very underrated scores I'd like to see on CD. I don't however expect a "Sword in the Stone" Legacy Collection any time soon, considering the past two Legacy releases have been Bruns scores as well.

I know there have been rumors floating to and fro about some potential works, such as "Beauty and the Beast", or "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (not positive on the latter, though), but I'd like some concrete announcements. More unreleased scores would be particularly delightful. Again, either "The Rescuers" or "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" would be incredible. I don't however expect a "Sword in the Stone" Legacy Collection any time soon, considering the past two have both been Bruns scores as well. It was surprising enough that we saw two of them in a row; a hat trick isn't likely.

Current speculation seems to indicate that Beauty and the Beast will be next in the collection, as confirmed by a member of this forum.

Finally got this puppy in my hands. All around great release! The sound quality is about what I would expect considering the age of the score and time period at Disney. Meaning "good", maybe even "very good", but not great.

I'm surprised how much thematic material exists here, because I remember an awful lot of Mickey Mousey music. Which oddly enough appears mostly during the last quarter of the score. "Not in Nottingham" is a surprising long and somewhat morbid cue for a Disney animated film. There's some oddball stuff on here too, which I wouldn't even know how to explain musically speaking.

Also interesting to note how much the music reminds me of The Jungle Book. Which isn't a bad thing in my book. The bonus Louis Prima songs are quite nice too!

I don't know which will be next and I never said that B&B was next.

Sorry for misinterpreting your response in the other thread.

As was I. Bruns' scores, though still delightful as ever, have a tendency to mimic action rather than actually say anything emotionally. "Robin Hood" was a pleasant surprise in that respect. I think the best example of a score of his that suffers from the aforementioned Mickey Mousing would be "The Aristocats," which only boasts two recurring themes of any sort that I can recall. It's not always a bad thing, but sometimes his music does kind of ramble around -- sometimes even moreso than the vintage scores that pioneered mickey-mousing.

I'm not sure if "The Jungle Book" is a case of this though, as that's the one animated Bruns score I don't own or haven't really paid much attention to in viewings.

"Robin Hood" was a pleasant surprise in that respect, what with the many recurring tunes and leitmotifs. I think the best example of a score of his that suffers from the aforementioned constant Mickey Mousing would be "The Aristocats," which only boasts two recurring themes of any sort that I can recall. It's not always a con, but can certainly sound a bit scattered and "un-unified" at times, if that makes sense.

I'm not sure if "The Jungle Book" is a case of this though, as that's the one animated Bruns score I do not own/have listened to extensively in some form.

Jungle book does have some of it, but it also draws from the Sherman Bros. Song melodies and the Serengeti music he composed for the world's Fair.

Wow, what a great release. I can't believe we finally get to hear the score in its full glory after all these years.

Funny, but I'm so used to hearing "The Phony King of England" in its tinny recording on the film that at first I thought this album was presenting an alternate version!

The box is green instead of blue (as the previous issues).
Changing the color of the collection is very annoying for a collector.

Are you referring to the book spines?
The colors actually vary, mostly blues and a few purples.
I like the green of ROBIN HOOD, I'll expect JUNGLE BOOK will be in a shade akin to avocado.

A question about the Legacy release (which is, regardless, absolutely fantastic).

In almost all foreign language, dubbed versions, the song "Love" begins with a small, very "George Bruns", orchestral intro.

Here (French dub) from 0'00 to 0'004 :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCCUWu2NEsM

Same in the italian dub, etc... :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLzjQO9RApM

That intro is not heard on the movie's original English language track (DVD or Blu-ray) but those soundtracks have been so manipulated (remaster after remaster) that it's impossible to say if it was there originally and altered by mistake in a later remaster.

Foreign dubs have been, generally, less altered as the separate elements (voices, effects, music) do not exist any longer.

That instrumental intro is not on the Legacy release.

Does anybody have any clue about the whole thing ?

As a kid it completely went over my head Robin just got laid. Enter cave at night, exit cave by morning. Even the lyrics are naughty, “All grown up inside of me”.

Oh by the way, interesting bit about the intro music.
