Yes, I heard him talk about it. It was a commission from Sony Classical and Marsalis and a pianist (Bronfman maybe, two Sony artist in any case). I think Goldenthal was given something like two weeks to compose the entire thing and so it didn't happen. I think the model of a piano/trumpet concerto was Shostakovich's First Piano Concerto. With that said, since Goldenthal was a Trumpeter, it's interesting that the idea stayed in his mind. I'll definitely be in Philadelphia on Oct.1 when it premieres!: https://chamberorchestra.org/cop/haydn-goldenthal/2017-10-01/ Yes, that's the one. O wow, two weeks? That's awfully a short time to write a concerto, no? And yes, it was supposed Yefim Bronhman along with the conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen. I forgot. You're right, he studied trumpet at university! Lucky you! Don't forget to share your impressions with us afterwards.

Song Classical: "Quickly -- write a musical masterpiece in a fortnight!" Goldenthal: "Wait, what now?"
