Would it be acceptable if this phrase was used when referring to pop songs heard in films and TV or would that require a separate phrase (and subsequently, a separate thread)?

You mean like how songs from The Greatest American Hero are totally from that show and not the terrible cover versions they actually are?

I watched that show during its original run. I was about 10 at the time. Having said that, I would refrain from watching that series as an adult (and I say this as a Robert Culp fan), regardless of any music replacement.

Saw the pilot recently and loved it.

When it originally aired, was originals. Licensing issues is why cant find or see anywhere. "Eve of Destruction" central to episode score and plot. Yet substituted for vanilla song.

But even the original airings they were not the original versions. I'm thinking specifically of Eve of Destruction, which was not Barry McGuire. I know this because when I heard the original however many years later I was very put off because it didn't sound like GAH. Likewise Rocket Man was not Elton John.

May Zack Snyder remake The Greatest American Hero and may Jesse Eisenberg be its star.

This is essentially 'Adaptation Displacement':

Yes, but "adaptation displacement" describes the phenomenon, while "jet pack cue" provides a handy noun phrase to describe the article itself.

Culp made that series. Loved him in it.

Ive heard both.Memory may be playing tricks but couldnt tell difference on Eve of Destruction and thought same.

Then again if not originals, their issues with rights and joey scarbury might explain why had to change songs if he sang them.

I also read it, and decided you're a few decades behind.

I am highly impressed by your decisions. Please share more of your insights with us.

I was Enlightened long before you were squeezing rainbows in your diaper.

I get told to "burn in hell" by one poster and get a remark about my pre-diaper days from another--and all in one thread.

And they say the Olde FSM Boarde is a "tough" place to post.

Yeah, burn in hell may have been too much. But a few decades in purgatory might not be out of line. Eisenberg? Really? wink
