I am currently discovering the great Richard Lynch as an actor, for example in THE SEVEN-UPS, INVASION USA or PUPPETMASTER III. According to the IMDB he seems to have done even worse pictures than good old HENRY SILVA.

Could you recommend some Lynch titles where he plays a major role and which are worth checking out?

You might appreciate his inclusion in a brief series of "In Memoriams" I did here: http://thecinemacafe.com/the-cinema-treasure-hunter/2013/9/12/end-credits-5-cinemas-2012-lost-treasures?rq=richard%20lynch

Lynch had a small part in "The Ninth Configuration", which was a pretty good film, IMO. Strange, but good.... cool

I think I first became aware of Lynch, when his character raped and brutally beats Al Pacino's character in SCARECROW. Truly evil scum he played. I believe he and Pacino were old off-broadway Theatre buddies in the early days and one of Lynch's final film appearances is as one of the cops walking with Pacino who is on the stretcher on wheels at the beginning and end of CARLITO'S WAY.

I saw him once in real life at the SAG office on Wilshire Blvd. in my L.A. days.

With a young Al Pacino in SCARECROW:

After Pacino's brutal beating and rape by Lynch, Gene Hackman tracks down Lynch and breaks his leg off in his butt. (So to speak) Great stuff!

SCARECROW is an Awesome Al Pacino / Gene Hackman movie!

Lynch was a popular bad guy on many TV shows in the 80s. One of my favorites was John Bradford Horn on Airwolf.

He was on Galactica 1980, Buck Rogers, Starsky And Hutch, The A-Team, Vegas, T.J. Hooker, Werewolf, Hunter, Star Trek: TNG, and many more.

He was the title bloodsucker in the TV pilot movie, Vampire.

I am currently discovering the great Richard Lynch as an actor, for example in THE SEVEN-UPS, INVASION USA or PUPPETMASTER III.

I was a production assistant on Puppetmaster III. Richard was a trip! During breaks from shooting he was always tooting this old saxophone which he'd brought along to the set, and hamming it up like some old jazz musician (which almost hid the fact that he couldn't really play it!). Really nice guy tho. Very unpretentious and not at all egotistical like some performers can be. He may have looked scary but he was the sweetest fellow. I liked him tremendously.

Though I know his name and have a picture of him in my mind, I couldn' t tell, which films he was in, but I got immediately a picture of him in starring in " Starsky & Hutch " .
It' s Episode 66 " Quadromenia " .
I just googled it to get the eps- name. Amongst Starsky & hutch- Fans it' s discussed as a not so good episode with a lot of lacking.
I used to watch Starsky & Hutch long time ago and for me is one of the eps, that stuck in my mind,
' cause of his great guest performance. He played a crippled actor, who' s for revenge after the one, who crippled him. For that he gets in differnt roles with great masks, so you wouldn' t recognize him immediately.
You can find the ep on youtube, unfortunately in four parts.
It would be nice, if you gonna watch it, to hear from you, what you think of his acting in this ep. wink

Spotted Lynch at a convention once. Guy was very gregarious and very, very funny. Guy in front of me talked his ear off and I remember overhearing one part that made everyone roll over in laughter...

"Would you believe I still have to do auditions? I mean, look at this face. That should sell its self - but no! Here I am reading the damn script 'See Spot. See Spot Run. Run Spot Run.' Fuck you Spot, I'm an actor!"

First let me thank you all for contributing to this thread. It is great to see that there are more fans out there for this lesser known but great late actor! I really appreciate the anecdotes of those who had the chance to meet him.

Incidentally, yesterday evening I watched the above-mentioned STARSKY&HUTCH episode "Quadromania". I knew he had to be in there somewhere, but at first I wasn't sure of whether he was the old limping man or not. Actually, you could see his real face only in one scene. While this episode surely has its shortcomings, Richard Lynch is really great in it. What a gifted actor!

The other day I watched PUPPETMASTER III, and I was amazed! He really steals the scenes when he is on screen. Being a fan of HENRY SILVA and KLAUS KINSKI, I thought that he really played in the same league of great cinema bad guys.
