OVERLORD---JJ Abrams/Paramount Pictures movie underway about paratroopers landing in France on D-Day and encountering supernatural forces in a Nazi-occupied village. The cast includes Jovan Adepo (THE LEFTOVERS), Wyatt Russell (EVERYBODY WANTS SOME), Jacob Anderson (GAME OF THRONES), Dominic Applewhite (THE KING'S SPEECH), Pilou Asbaek (GAME OF THRONES), Iain de Caestecker (MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Mathilde Ollivier (THE MISFORTUNES OF FRANCOIS JANE). BLOODSHOT---Oscar Isaac, James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicholas Hoult and Mark Wahlberg are candidates to star in this Sony Pictures movie based on the comic book about a dead soldier who is brought back to life with super powers provided by billions of nanorobots in his body. The script is by Eric Heisserer (THE ARRIVAL).

JUDGE DREDD: MEGA-CITY ONE---producer Brian Jenkins said he's been in talks with Karl Urban, who starred as Judge Dredd in DREDD, to star in the tv series, “We have had many conversations prior to this, about all sorts of things. He’s also very busy, a full-time professional actor. So we’re going to have some long and complicated conversations I would imagine, and we’ll see where we go. It’s too early to tell yet, but if we can use him and he’s available to us, then I think that would be absolutely brilliant. There’s always a possibility he will be busy, or that his schedule for other movies won’t allow..."

WHY WE'RE KILLING GUNTHER---photo released from the comedy movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Taran Killam and Cobie Smulders in which a gang of international assassins target "the world's greatest hitman" because he brags too much.

BUBBLES---Netflix is in negotiations to acquire this movie about Michel Jackson as seen from the perspective of his pet chimpanzee, Bubbles.

HOSTILE---sci fi movie set in a post-apocalyptic world where survivors of a global epidemic are hunted by creatures who emerge at night.

THE BEST OF ENEMIES---Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell will star in this movie about “a civil rights activist in Durham, N.C., who battled KKK leader C.P. Ellis for a decade until 1971, when the two agreed to co-chair a two-week community meeting to deal with a court-ordered school desegregation decree. That event changed both of their lives immeasurably.” Bruce McGill, Wes Bentley and Anne Heche also star.

KATRINA: AMERICAN CRIME STORY---Dennis Quaid will play President George W. Bush in this FX crime anthology series about Hurricane Katrina. Matthew Broderick and Annette Bening also star.

Judging by the cast photo, in JJ Abrams' OVERLORD, the 82nd Airborne is desegregated, or the Wermacht is using Ethiopian POWs captured in North Africa----and the female French Resistance fighter is named Harriette, but everyone calls her "Harry".

Re: Dark Crystal. I appreciate the art of the film, and I think they created a fascinating world, but the film itself wasn't very good. Interesting project all the same and not one I ever saw coming!

If they can somehow score Urban in the JUDGE DREDD series, I'm 100% all the way in.

Getting Urban in as Dredd would be great. If not, I'm not sure who could play him other than an unknown (I wanted Fassbender back in 2010). More importantly it needs good writers and decent supporting actors. There are so any good characters to play from the comics that are memorable and unique it should be reflected in the casting. I'm worried it'll be a bit flat like the Dredd movie was. It's such a great opportunity to have an exciting, fun, thoughtful sci-fi show. Fingers crossed for it.

Boy, judging by the trailer for THE ALIENIST. Daniel Bruhl has certainly done a great job of submerging his German accent.

To be specific, I thought the characters were annoying. The villains were annoyingly obnoxious, and the good characters were annoyingly dumb and clueless. I remember when I saw the film, the kiddies in the theater couldn't stop giggling and saying "Hmmmmmmmmmmm" while watching the entire film.
