Perhaps we should be ready to travel to Seti Alpha 2 for some ointment to treat this new STD?

For me, it looks too much like J.J.'s Star Trek world and I was done with that when they did the Cumberbatch Khan thing. Only thing good about the J.J.'s for me was Urban as McCoy. He was brilliant. Quinto's take on Spock was good (but ultimately didn't have the heart Nimoy gave it) and when they put him with Zoehura, I was on my way to Burger King.

Long Live Captain Kirk, just as long as he's not frying eggs with John Luke.

I don't have an issue with the two female leads, but I have no idea what's driving these characters. Whats their motives? Granted their going to show a lot of action scenes in the trailer, but it looks terribly generic. Could be Star Wars, could be Guardians of the Galaxy, could be Star Trek Into Darkness...

1) It's a trailer. How much do you expect to know about the characters and their motivations?

2) From that trailer alone, it seems like the lead's motivation is going to be like she f-ed up and started a conflict and now it's her responsibility to resolve it.

These trailers are not filling me with hope (just doesn't feel like Trek, at least not Trek of that period, and even taken on its own it seems kind of goofy and the design isn't doing much for me). But I'll certainly give it a chance.

Good trailers give you an idea what the story is about (without going into spoilers). I got the "You started it and now you have to fix it" line. But it's so generic. Whats the story about? In Star Trek TMP trailers you know the original crew are coming back together, they refitted the Enterprise and an unknown alien object is on a destructive course towards Earth. Got it?

Is the Discovery going to be a submarine like the Enterprise in the JJ Abrams Trek Universe?

Only thing good about the J.J.'s for me was Urban as McCoy. He was brilliant.

My sentiments exactly.

Long Live Captain Kirk, just as long as he's not frying eggs with John Luke.

Memories of SNL with Shatner and the Enterprise having been transformed into a space restaurant. smile

Loved when Dana Carvey played Khan. Now that was hilarious. I'm beginning to think the Seth McFarland Space Comedy may be the big winner of the two. If there has to be a winner, which of course there doesn't.

To each is own. I hope those who will like it, will enjoy it and for those who don't, we will always have all that has come before to re-enjoy and go back to, time and again.

I wish them all luck, but I just won't be on board for a STD.

Now if I can only get the Shat to make me an omelet with bacon!

Between Kirk cooking breakfast, and his pathetic death scene, I have to believe Shat did the film for the soul purpose of stealing Stewart's thunder. Script could've read, "Kirk sits on toilet reading newspaper", and he would've done it.
