The headline on the BBC website (and I imagine quite a few others) is "Halpy Days actress dies".

Which if you glance at it quickly can look like:

"Happy days!!! Actress dies!"

Too soon?

Moran played another little girl, named "Laurie," in 1968's HOW SWEET IT IS!. Jerry Paris directed this comedy, which was released by National General Pictures. Pat Williams' score was released on an RCA, and recently on a Vocalion CD.

Mickey Rooney appeared with a group of great character actors (Jo Van Fleet, Keenan Wynn, Slim Pickens, Sal Mineo, R.G. Armstrong) in the little seen film 80 STEPS TO JONAH. This 1969 film has the first ever feature film appearance by singer Wayne Newton—as the dramatic lead no less. Newton plays a drifter, fleeing from police, who becomes involved in a camp for blind children. One of those blind children, "Kim," was played by Erin Moran.

The film had some solid talent behind the camera, including director Gerd Oswald (SCREAMING MIMI, BUNNY O'HARE) and cinematographer Joseph LaShelle (THE APARTMENT, MARTY), and contains the only feature film score by pianist George Shearing. And of course, Newton sings four songs in the film, three of which he co-composed.

Moran had a small role in 1969's THE HAPPY ENDING, playing Kathy Fields' character, "Marge Wilson," as a child. Richard Brooks directed the drama. Michel Legrand's score was last released by Quartet in 2010.

I grew up watching Happy Days but I have very little recollection of Erin. RIP.

In the 1970 social comedy WATERMELON MAN, Erin Moran played "Janice Gerber," the young daughter of "Jeff Gerber" (Godfrey Cambridge), a bigoted white suburbanite who wakes up to discover that he has become black. Melvin Van Peebles directed the film. He also composed the film's score, which was released on a Beverly Hills Records LP, but has never re-surfaced on CD.

Erin Moran's biggest feature film role came when she was 21, co-starring with Edward Albert in the sci-fi horror film GALAXY OF TERROR. Moran played a psychic named "Alluma," a crew member of a spaceship that has landed on the planet Organthus. Bruce D. Clark directed the 1981 film, which was also released as MINDWARP: AN INFINITY OF TERROR and PLANET OF HORRORS. The late Bill Paxton was a set dresser on the film, before he took to acting. Barry Schrader provided the unreleased score.

I was sorry to hear about the passing of Erin Moran. She obviously had some issues in the last years of her life. I've always been a big fan of 'Happy Days' and enjoyed her in it. RIP Shortcake.

I had no idea she was in GOT. Isn't this the one where a giant space slug rapes a women in the beginning of the film?

I remember the opening of the movie with Jeff running out of the house because he's late, and his wife later saying the kids can watch their father running out of the house, and the ending with Jeff joining other black people in a consciousness meeting. But not the stuff in between...

Yep. That's the one. James Cameron also worked on the film, doing 2nd unit and production design. Got his Piranha II director's job while working on this film.

One of the better Alien knock-offs, IMHO.

Nice Turner Classic Movies write-up.

Closer magazine said that she had gotten her first break appearing in a bank commercial in '74, but she actually appeared on the final season of "Daktari" and on an episode of "My Three Sons" before that.

She's now up there with Howard (Tom Bosley). R.I.P. Erin Moran.
