THE SHAPE OF WATER---new Guillermo del Toro movie starring Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Octavia Spencer and Doug Jones. Jones said about his role, “It’s a 1963 drama—it’s not a sci-fi [film], it’s not a genre film, but I am a creature in it. I’m a fish man that’s kind of a one-off. I’m an enigma, nobody knows where I came from; I’m the last of my species so I’m like a natural anomaly. And I’m being studied and tested in a U.S. government facility in 1963, so the Russian Cold War is on, the race for space is on, so there’s all that backdrop and that undercurrent. I’m being tested for how can they use me for advantages in military or space travel, or my technology—can we make this usable for humans? So they’re trying to keep me a secret from the Russians.”

ALIEN: COVENANT---photo released of the Neomorph.

ALADDIN---Will Smith is in talks to star in the Walt Disney Pictures live-action remake of the 1992 animated movie that starred Robin Williams.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI---director Rian Johnson said he changed Kylo Ren's facial scar for THE LAST JEDI, “It was my decision to slightly adjust it, and that was my justification. It honestly looked goofy running straight up the bridge of his nose.”

BATGIRL---Joss Whedon said he's not seeking a big star for the lead role after Emma Stone, Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson were mentioned, "I don’t have my eye on anybody. I feel like I’m creating this character, I’m gonna dialogue with her and then we’ll see who joins that later on… I doubt it will be a name. This is somewhere where you go and find Batgirl and then you cast her."

JAMES BOND---Sony Picture's rights to the James Bond franchise expired after SPECTRE, so five studios are bidding for the new rights: Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Annapurna Pictures. The rights will be for only one movie as the 007 role will probably be recast after Daniel Craig is expected to leave the franchise after the 25th Bond movie.

FAHRENHEIT 451---HBO tv movie underway based on the Ray Bradbury novel. Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon star.

CAPTAIN MARVEL---Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (MISSISSIPPI GRIND) will direct the superhero movie starring Brie Larson.

SUPERHEROES DECODED---History two-part documentary described as, “With rare access to top creators at both DC and Marvel, Superheroes Decoded uncovers how the rise of the superhero parallels America’s rise as a superpower in the 20th century, evolving through the decades into a uniquely American mythology that has captured audiences across the globe. Using modern film clips, vintage comic artwork, historical archival material.”
Interviews include Stan Lee, Jon Favreau, George RR Martin, Anthony and Joe Russo and Brad Meltzer. Premiere is April 30.

SCYTHE---the 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE duo of Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken will write the script for the movie based on the dystopian novel where there is overpopulation caused by no war or disease. To control population, people are killed by agents called Scythes.

CHRONONAUTS---movie underway based on the Mark Millar time travel comic book. Philip Gawthorne will write the script. Millar said he wants Chris Pratt and Chris Hemsworth to star.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2---Michael Rosenbaum (SMALLVILLE) commented on his cameo in the sequel, “Well, I’m in the movie, and I can’t really say the role I’m playing because James [Gunn] swore me to secrecy. But it’s with Stallone, and it’s an important role. I’m not allowed to say anything other than that...I don’t have to shave my head again, so that’s good.”

THE ALIENIST---Brian Geraghty (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) has replaced Sean Astin, who was playing New York Police Commissioner Theodore Roosevelt, in the TNT miniseries based on the serial killer novel. Astin left due to a schedule conflict with STRANGER THINGS.

DEADPOOL 2---Leslie Uggams said she's returning for the sequel.

ENCOUNTER---Luke Hemsworth (WESTWORLD) stars in this sci fi movie about a group of friends who discover a crashed spaceship and an alien survivor. They must determine its true intentions on Earth.

ARCTIC---Mads Mikellsen (CASINO ROYALE) stars in this movie about a man, stranded in the Arctic, who is involved in an accident which causes him to miss being rescued. He must find a way to survive.

Chrononauts - synchronise watches, everybody!

Definition of a chrononaut - someone who is chronically controlling about time keeping. Sorry, I couldn't help it, what, with that name being so cute an' all. smile

Edit: Dunkirk - if corporal Hitler had performed a pincer attack on the BEF, with its back to the sea, the outcome of WWII would have been something completely different. Britain would probably have been forced to sue for peace in the face of heavy defeat if left with not even so much as a relatively intact, albeit tattered standing army, to defend its shores. It certainly makes you think of the "what if" consequences had the evacuation not taken place. Remember Leia's line from the original Star Wars - "they let us go, it's the only explanation for the ease of our escape!" If Hitler had studied Caesar properly, he would never have earned the moniker of 'corporal.'

Don't mean to nit-pick, but the Bf109 in the pic has the same problem as the ones featured in BOB. It's the air intake and exhaust baffles . . . this is closer to what they would have looked like while buzzing the beaches of Dunkirk, with straight, long yellow noses:

The Spanish modified 109s have always struck me as having the 'visage' of a Deputy Dawg muzzle.
