Laurel Records proudly announces the release of Music From THE RIFLEMAN® Television Series composed by Herschel Burke Gilbert. The wildly popular Series ran from 1958 through 1963. Reruns continue to this day. Conceived, produced, and directed by the team of Jules Levy, Arthur Gardner, and Arnold Laven, the show gained a devoted following. Particularly popular was the music, which was composed by veteran Hollywood composer Gilbert who had earned 3 Academy nominations for his film scores. So popular was the music that Gilbert occasionally received more fan mail for his scoring than the show’s star, Chuck Connors. This 2 CD set contains cues originally written for the series (including the original and revised end titles) remastered from the original audio tapes plus a bonus CD of extras, including selected cues from Gilbert’s film scores used in the series, as well as vocals and extra materials not used on-screen. A 24-page booklet explains the history of the scoring and has lyrics to The Rifleman Song, which has never been heard before this release. Series video is available from LGL-Productions (www.TheRifleman.net). This long awaited CD set of the original music is a must have for any fan of THE RIFLEMAN®

Available from Laurel Records: www.LaurelRecords.com ($25.99)

Excited about this one!
Great music by an extremely under represented composer.

WOW! This is fantastic news!

I love the TV series and its music, I never thought we would have 2 CDs of the music. The 2 CDs total almost 2 hours! A big booklet too!

I bought a few LPs from Laurel Records back in the 1970s, time to order again.

Don't miss out on some GREAT TV music! smile

not to be a wet blanket but...

the music in the show - at least the first three seasons- is all stock. They use at most five cues over and over.
Maybe Gilbert composed more music than was used but ....

Holy...

FINALLY!. Never thought I'd still be alive to actually see a legitimate release of this.

Absolutely NOT TRUE! An particularly uninformed observation. I've seen the manuscript which is at the UCLA archive. The music was written expressly for THE RIFLEMAN and recorded by the Kurt Graunke Orchestra in Munich, Germany. Gilbert also used a cues from THE NAKED HILLS, which he composed for that film as well as a few other cues culled from his film 30+ film scores. Read the booklet!

you misinterpret my comments.
By stock i mean the Gilbert cues were written for THE RIFLEMAN but spotted for each episode by the music editor.
THE FUGITIVE employed the same process. A series of prewritten cues to be placed in each episode where appropriate. The small number of cues also meant that the music was often INapproriate.
If you have watched the show, as you claim, you would not deny the endless reuse of a handful of cues.

Tons of shows did that but your "five library cues used over and over again" is a gross exaggeration. These seem all by Burke and the number of them show the album is that missing link to this show I have been waiting for!

Ordered.

This was on my Dad's small Holy Grail list. I will have to purchase this and listen to it in his memory. I have been trying to watch the episodes almost every Saturday morning on AMC.

Well, to quote a 1960s country bumpkin TV Marine, "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!"
And you can throw in a "Shazam!"

I also have been nostalgically watching the reruns on AMC on the weekend, like Kim above.
Ordered!

C'mon Mr. Marshall...aww hell....Bruce, you wrote a perfect pair of unambiguous declarative sentences.
I don't see how there can be any way for a reader to "misinterpret" them.
It would rather seem that you (to use a term so popular with politicians today when they put their foot in their mouth).........
......er, "misspoke."
smile

Just funnin' ya!

Name one composer who wrote new music for each episode of a TV series. Studios wouldn't tolerate the expesnse. Do us both a favor and just don't listen. You're a one off.
