I'd buy a bunch more music if it was available as a digital download but so often, the albums I want from places like Intrada or La La Land etc are only on CD. Is it a lot more expensive for these companies to get the rights to downloads, or is the decision to encourage people to listen on CD?

I appreciate that some of you hate downloads or streaming and are CD only people. But what about people like me who are happy to have a download and live in the UK where customs fees and shipping can be a killer.

Thanks!

The specialty labels don't have digital download licenses. The studios figured they can charge the soundtrack labels for remastering their own catalogue. Afterwards when the CD's go OOP, the studios occasionally put them up as downloads.

I wonder how many people took advantage of Disques Cinemusique's issuance of SHENANDOAH as a download a month or two ago. I, for one, am very happy to see Disques Cinemusique release old American LP albums as CD's, if none of the other labels have gotten around to issuing them in more expanded original musical elements. Downloads are better than nothing at all.
