How many Waltzes can you think of that Goldsmith wrote for the movies?

I can think of his Waltz from NIGHT CROSSING played in "The Picnic" cue and the in the End Titles and of course his sweeping Waltz /Main Theme from THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL. I think he may have had a Waltz cue in QB VII or that might have been a source cue. Can you think of any more "Waltz" type cues in other Goldsmith scored productions?

Here is his Waltz from NIGHT CROSSING:

And I guess you really have to throw in THE MEPHISTO WALTZ. But was that Goldsmith or Franz List?

The theme from PAPILLON sounds like a waltz. Likewise, "Rotten Row" from THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY.

The "Kick the Can" segment from TWIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE has a short waltz for a couple of the adults-now-children doing just that.

A tad off a Waltz I remember I had a Drama/Voice Teacher in college who thought Jerry Goldsmith's CAPRICORN ONE Main Title Theme sounded like a "Rumba" to him. I can hear what he's saying.

IN LIKE FLINT is my favorite. The theme is not technically a waltz - it's in 6/8 - but its close enuf!

that one wore out its welcome after a few performances; for me, at least.

Much prefer his Tchaikovsky take-off in IN LIKE FLINT ballet sequence in Russia!

Listen to that second section of the main theme of ST:TMP, as played presto in the end title (the part with the horns doing triplets in the background).

As the kids say today, "It sounds hella like-a waltz." smile

Color me not-at-all surprised. It's brilliant music.

Don't forget that the Bad Guy Theme is a waltz (Deutscher!), and I'm pretty sure the theme for Frau Doring is one, too.

One of his finest too, in my opinion.

I think one of my favorites he wrote for Seconds...so delicate and sad.

Is that little, music-box-y tune for FREUD a waltz?
