I was just wondering...There is of course Giuseppe Tornatore's GEEK in preparation but what else? The author of CINEMA PARADISO is also credited on ImdB as being involved together with 8 other directors in the movie BERLIN, I LOVE YOU. Too soon to tell if Ennio will be part of it.

Lajos Koltai's ALINE & WOLF still seems uncertain and Morricone's name is not anymore associated to it, according to ImdB at least. Maybe we can at least still expect A ROSE IN WINTER by Joshua Sinclair, starring Vanessa Redgrave, Alice Krige and Franco Nero but here as well nothing recent has surfaced since almost one year, for instance in this announcement:

http://filmmusicreporter.com/2016/05/15/ennio-morricone-to-score-a-rose-in-winter/

What about Quentin Tarantino? ImdB mentions KILL BILL 3 but I doubt Ennio would be hired on that one, provided a new score would be needed.

Late 2016, Christian Carion has shot in 6 days only a movie entitled MON GARCON starring Guillaume Canet & Mélanie Laurent. I couldn't yet find the name of the composer but it's unlikely it will be EM, especially following after the commercial failure of EN MAI, FAIS CE QU'IL TE PLAIT.

As a whole, we really don't have much information but it's also possible that EM is busy writing mostly concert music these days, like the recent piece for two pianos and orchestra he wrote for the occasion of the ceremony in Milan where he was given the prestigious title of Doctor Honoris Causa. To be followed...

Hi Laurent.
More we wait, more some mysterious or hard to produce films like Spider Dance, A Rose in Winter and Aline § Wolfe seem less possible for an official soundtrack by Morricone ... A pity because nothing new appeared since "Correspondence" (La corrispondenza by Tornatore), early 2016.

But don't forget, from the same director, the first episode of the upcoming this year (and surely shot) "I beati Paoli", an Italian TV mini series, for which Morricone certainly should provide some music, at least for the Tornatore's episode.

Indeed, nothing since "Correspondence" (january 2016). And do you guys remember all that talk on the EM forum around 2011-2012, about the "Leningrad" score he was working on day and night... whatever happened to that italian member "Altnikol" who was apparently very close to Ennio, he used to bring us all sorts of interesting updates from the Maestro.

Indeed since he has announced a series of "final" concerts for health reasons I wonder IF there be a score at all.

The production company for "ALINE & WOLFE", listed Morricone as the composer on their LinkedIN page. That was 2015 though.

Patrick, I made a research on google.it regarding I BEATI PAOLI and first spotted stuff dating back one year ago like this:

http://gds.it/2016/02/09/una-serie-su-i-beati-paoli-giuseppe-tornatore-alla-regia_472314/

http://www.tvblog.it/post/1246929/i-beati-paoli-annunciata-la-serie-tv-con-giuseppe-tornatore-regista-e-supervisore

I was therefore wondering if the RAI was still in the process of developing it before I eventually discovered a more recent article, from October 2016:

http://www.sceridan.com/news/la-rai-si-aggiudica-i-beati-paoli-serie-firmata-da-giuseppe-tornatore-prodotta-da-leone-film

Interestingly, the latter article also mentions Stefano Sollima's upcoming COLT, based upon the TV series primarily conceived by Sergio Leone. Let's wait and see if the Maestro will be involved in either of these projects. The shooting debut of I BEATI PAOLI (announced for 2017) is certainly dependant on Tornatore's own schedule and the completion of GEEK in particular.
