I think all the score nominees vary from terrible to non-descript. So I don't really have any favourites at all. I wish they skipped the category altogether, so NOBODY got it!
As for songs, I love "How Far I'll Go" from MOANA, even though it's FROZEN Lite. So I'll hope for that.
Fully onboard the La La Land train... after many listens to the score and cast albums, I think my pure enjoyment (plus appreciation for some actual thematic development) makes it a sure-fire winner. Yes, the OScars have long since become a joke, especially after seeing last year's lifetime achievement Oscar for Ennio Morricone (over the vastly superior Force Awakens) and a musical score Oscar given to a sound experiment called Gravity. This year Giacchino was robbed of a nomination after the top-notch scores he produced.
