Noted British classical music magazine Gramophone has some interesting articles this week about film music. Includes an interview with John Williams, Hans Zimmer about Ennio Morricone, a debate between John Corigliano and Philip Glass, a debate about Bernard Herrmann (provocatively called "was Bernard Herrmann a great composer?") and more.
Just to specify, though -- some of those interviews are old. The Williams one, for example, is an edited version of one that came out in 2005 (I actually have the physical magazine it was featured in).
"With the 89th Academy Awards ceremony approaching on Sunday, this week on the Gramophone we are focusing on music and film, with interviews and features drawn from Gramophone's archive."

I recall some pundit or other once saying, "Bernard Herrmann was not the first great composer to work in film; he was the first great film composer."
