Does anyone have this album, and/or has anyone seen the film? What do you think of the film or score?

I see that it is available on CD.

I first saw it on Cinemax a little over a decade ago while I was changing channels. Since it stars Jack MacGowran from one of my favorite movies, THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS, it immediately caught my attention. "What the hell is this?" Was my first response. The movie wasn't in my Maltin Guide, so I had to go to IMDb to find out about it.

It's a strange movie. I think it was barely released. I've since bought it on DVD (I believe there's now a Blu-ray) but I've never watched it more than once. The George Harrison score didn't make a strong impression, but others may have more to say. That's about it from me. A curiosity of a movie, but little more. Also, veeery British quirky.

I see it is available on Amazon streaming for US $3.99. I may rent it after I finish watching some of these Oscar turkeys that I've taped from TCM.

A strange film and an even stranger score. The score is an odd blend of Western and Eastern music styles featuring guitar (on at least one occasion played by Eric Clapton), honky-tonk piano, sitar, etc. The soundtrack also reportedly features Peter Tork.

I like it, but it had to grow on me. It is very weird.

If you're interested in the CD, it should be easily and cheaply available now, as it was re-issued by Apple a few years back, in much better sound. The first issue of the CD from the early 1990s used to sell for about $75 after it went Out of Print.

The film itself deals with a recluse who peers at a beautiful woman (Jane Birkin) through a hole in his wall, if I recall. roll eyes

ADDED: The soundtrack is going to be re-issued on vinyl soon, along the rest of George Harrison's Apple albums.

I recommend just waiting for TCM to show it, "record" that but don't watch it until you've got some good weed to smoke. Booze won't enhance this one.

Gives an idea of the idiosyncratic whirlwind days we lived in then in the UK
