If being a huge Ray Harryhausen fan makes me a nerd and a geek, then I shall wear both badges with great honor!

Wonderful! Can’t wait for this! A very enjoyable film with great scenery, colors, memorable and fun if somewhat stereotypical characters and a great score by Moross. It has some of Harryhausen’s best work, with great details, color and lifelike movements. Gwangi’s noises were great, too. The low, guttural, gurgling growl reverberating in the cathedral was chilling. I remember seeing this as a child and thinking sadly “What a miserable way to go!” and was even moved by Gwangi’s fate. Gwangi is even somewhat a sympathetic creature. My only negative is the circus/elephant stuff, I thought it detracted even though it was central to the plot. So, it’s "King Kong" in the wild west, I’m okay with that. Definitely will pre-order. Thanks for the update!

While we wait for this release, how about some discussion on the "other" star of this movie, the now extinct James Franciscus. A good actor, or a very wooden one. I know he has some fans, but I've never been one of them. He was okay to look at, I guess, but his acting range wasn't very great. I think/thought he's perfectly fine. For acting chops, I presume he did as he was directed. Damn handsome devil, too. Did you know he busted Jane Fonda's "cherry"? She said as much in her autobiography. They knew each other in college. He must not have thought much of himself, though. He literally smoked himself to death. A tragic figure really.

I was always a fan of James Franciscus. Thought he was a pleasant, natural actor.
