Not sure whether or not to be offended for all Japanese people or for all people who write good jokes. Tip: If you have to explain the joke IN the joke, it might not be funny.

That's ridiculous. Do you really think Japanese people are so stuck up that they can't see any humor in their pronunciation of English words? They have entire segments on several shows dedicated to exactly that. I know many Japanese people personally that joke about their pronunciation of foreign words using and their reading of words that are in Katakana.

Whether the joke is funny or not is irrelevant. You being offended on behalf of an entire nation is laughable.
