Both editions are now for sale again on the Waxwork site, and will remain for sale throughout 2/15 only. This 2nd pressing will ship in about 8 weeks.

Still waiting for the CD.

Sometime back I talked to Mondo about the enormous flipper problem they have, with both poster art and LP they were apologetic, but they basically said, "yeah-we know, there is nothing we can do about it." So that line of sloths lining the sidewalk to Mondo down from my office continue to buy stuff at Mondo and go home and post it on ebay. Fortunately I want almost nothing from Mondo, I did want a couple Disney poster arts they produced, but they were all marked up extremely high on ebay.

It´s cool of Waxwork to release both the deluxe and the White "snow" edition again for only a day to give everybody a chance to buy it and giving the scalpers a BIG FU´.

I Think they should have this option for all their releases, take up preorder for a day to everyone who wants a deluxe edition and press that amount.

120$ for a deluxeedition to Europé is much, but it is your own option if you want to buy it or not and there is a cheaper option too, so I Think this is fair as it is not cheap to get the right etc for a soundtrack and the Money Waxwork does, probably goes straight down to new releases.

Now I am eagerly awaiting Creepshow 2 and Evil Dead 2 too smile

Jesus, I was hopeful that the sweet broken ice version would also be 32 bucks, but nope, 70!

I recently played a few of my (very well kept thirty year old) LPs on a Technics SL-1200 turntable (by all means a good turntable), on the stereo setup where I usually play CDs, and there is no question in my mind that the sound of CD is superior to vinyl in all aspects. I have always believed the "vinyl sounds warmer/better/more detailed/whatever” to be a myth. While it is futile to argue with people about what sounds “better” (a purely subjective opinion), I think CDs sound more “accurate”, more “exact” and therefore more natural, which is my reason for thinking they sound “better”. I grew up with vinyl and know how to balance a turntable arm correctly, so I can do all this “hipster” stuff but I’m glad I don’t HAVE to anymore and can just listen to the music.

Having said all that: I absolutely love this Waxwork release. I think it is beautiful, the cover is gorgeous (even though the OST LP cover for THE THING may be my personal all-time favorite soundtrack LP cover), and their work is truly for lovers not just of the score but of the medium vinyl. In fact, I’m tempted to buy it just because I like to look at it. Kudos to Waxwork for this fine piece of art.
