this is one of those movies that I never
watched from begging to end.
I would see a bit here and part of it there.

the film seems to be on t.v. all the time.
I always enjoy it for time I watch it.

it seems to be laid out like chapters in a book.
when the chapter ends you put the book down.
only to pick up the book land continue to the next chapter.

I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

so please add your 2 cents.

The book was written in that exact same way. A 6 part series of mini novels.
The film is a great adaptation of the novel(s).

Stephen King adaptations are hit-or-miss, as everyone knows.
But I think this one's "hit".

It's one of those movies that, when you chance upon it, you stop and watch.

I can't even remember what I encountered first - the film or the book?

All I know is that freakin' mouse 'looked' exactly as it 'read' in the book.

It always felt like "Stephan Kings Greatest Hits" to me. It's a story that just hits every note we've seen before. This is a shame as it is a very good movie. I just never felt like there was anything fresh to it.

The Missus busts out crying during most of the movie.
She is, what you might call, a King enthusiast; read all the books, etc.
I have the dubious distinction of having read maybe a quarter of his output, so maybe that accounts for me not knowing where he has repeated himself.

I guess I wasn't motivated to keep up after seeing the movie version of "The Langoliers".
Please tell me the book wasn't as bad!

The last King I read was Desperation. Not his best. He can take any ridiculous scenario and stretch it with that unique literary descriptiveness of his.

It can also be something of a quasi-depressing experience, turning the pages on one of his numbers. I remember Christine and those grinning corpses glimpsed through the car windows - George Lebay et al. Creeepee! Wait a sec, wasn't that The Stand?

Wait--I just remembered that I read "Under The Dome".
Is it weird that I forgot that?

The director was on TCM last night talking about PAPILLON and Frank Schaffner. Mentioned how much he likes Planet of the Apes.

I liked the book and the movie. In my opinion, the movie was well-acted and well-made. Watch all of it, doggie. Avoid popcorn and have some milk bones while watching.

The star of the show was, without a shadow of a doubt . . . ol' Sparky.
