I started this thread with complicated references to the "Big Country" thread, and the one about "Billions of People, So Few Film Score Fans", drawing on notions of the importance of historical context, a certain degree of musical education, the difference between enjoying something as children do and the necessity of looking for intellectual enrichment as adults. There I've gone and messed it all up again. First time round I scrubbed everything. Hope you're following me.

I'll make it easier (on you, and on myself) - I just came across Rick Beato on YouTube. He's got loads of videos up, many of them with a film music orientation (for young composers I suppose), but also explaining in a very clear way the Lydian Mode, the Phrygian Mode etc etc. You might think "Why do I want to know that?", but I at least got a lot out of what I saw. He's a great communicator.

You'll also see (should you choose to accept the mission) lots of great stuff on perfect pitch, the chord structures of Wes Montgomery, how to expand your musical boundaries and a long list if etceteras.

So, I got all confused when trying to start this topic. I'll just keep it simple for now. Anyone seen Rick Beato's series of videos? I think they're great, but feel free to disagree with me.
