Actually, there were no "for sale" coloring books on the titles mentioned above.

These "coloring" exercises were created for publicity and were part of the pressbooks put out to theaters.

It was up to the theater manager to determine if publishing one of the pictures for a coloring contest would be beneficial or not.

Still, it's fun to learn which movies these things were done for.

All socialism (Thor) and kidding (everyone else) aside, there does appear to be a coloring book trend. I saw one for the BBC Sherlock series, and diacovered that there are books for other series and films as well. Who is doing all this coloring anyway? Certainly not the kida, who do everything via phones and computers, so it must be the adults.

I dunno, I think kids still color up to grade school. And "adult" coloring books have been around for decades now. (subjects like realistic animals, nature, still life, science, historical, etc.) I Understand it's also used for rehab and as an activity for scenario citizens. There's even sex positions coloring books. big grin

Whether they've been around for decades or not, these grown-up coloring books sure have gone mainstream now.

I wonder if the sharpener in my ancient Crayola crayons box still works...
