    I simply ADORE the Magi!!!!

You see, here we usually get our prezzies on 12th Night, which was today. I had left a list of about 400 soundtrack CDs that I thought I'd "not mind having", gave it to my dear wife to pass on to the Three Kings, and Hey Presto, this morning in my stockings and suspenders I found the following six score CDs. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tell me if you think these are any good...

In alphabetty spaghetty composer order ('coz that's how I'll be listening to them) -

TOYS IN THE ATTIC (George Duning - FSM)

THE BIG SLEEP (Jerry Fielding - Intrada)

THE RAINS OF RANCHIPUR/ SEVEN CITIES OF GOLD/ THE BLUE ANGEL (Hugo Friedhofer - Kritzerland)

VON RYAN'S EXPRESS/ THE DETECTIVE (Jerry Goldsmith - Intrada)

OBSESSION (Bernard Herrmann - Music Box)

THE SONG OF BERNADETTE (Alfred Newman - Varese Sarabande)

Looking forward immensely to hearing them all, and very happy to see that I still have CDs on my "wants" list released in the mid-'90s. I'll be long dead before I even scratch the surface of great scores from the past 100 years that I need to hear. And I mean that optimistically.

Received Today From Dagored(out of order) John Carpenter & Alan Howarth ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK Red 124 LP..the same edition of Silva Screen but set in to 1 LP

but the SAD thing is that the A Side is the correct A Side, the B side(with correct sticker) is the musical press of the B side of RED 121 LP John Barry 's Game of Death...

    so weird

How is the music for KILLER FORCE / THE CORRUPT ONES by Garvarentz?

How is the music for KILLER FORCE / THE CORRUPT ONES by Garvarentz?

El Aurence, here's part of what Gergely Hubai wrote in his liner notes about KILLER FORCE: "Garvarentz's music is a lively tribute to the heist movie scores and is written in the vein of Lalo Schifrin's similarly themed works. The propulsive main title (which gets reprised in The chase) begins with a burst of Oriental percussion shifting into some really cool disco grooves - as it can be expected from the mid-1970s. And about THE CORRUPT ONES: Garvarentz's score is a lovely homage to the world of James Bond films, including a title song performed by none other than Dusty Springfield...This main theme appears in almost half of the tracks in various disguises..."

Indeed, I would say both scores are anchored in two different periods, respectively 1976 and 1967 but if you like Garvarentz's lyricism, you are likely to enjoy this very pleasant release. I would say the most appealing one is KILLER FORCE. Really fun to listen to. THE CORRUPT ONES has also good moments to offer but encompasses more suspense cues.

By the way, regarding Music Box Records, I guess they will announce their January titles any moment.

Thanks for the information. That sounds good to me. I am a huge fan of the 70's music and also the sixties. I think I'll order this one because Garvarentz is new to me and I like to explore new composers and their music.
