Relatedly, there is a recent movie HELL OR HIGH WATER about bank robberies in Texas. Can't recall the composer, but the music is very much like Carter Burwell's music to FARGO. No, the composer is not Carter Burwell. I'm new here and this looks like a great discussion room and a great web site. Thanks. Jim Stokes, who does words and music for musicals.

Hell or High Water was scored by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. It's a good score but sounds nothing like Burwell's Fargo
I noticed barely any score in Hell or High Water, so little that I was surprised there was a soundtrack/score release, and what I heard didn't seem to sound like Fargo.
On the other hand, David Hirschfelder's The Dressmaker sounded a lot like Fargo, combined with a Morricone Western.
I really liked The Founder score, hope it gets a CD release (hearing Burwell's music early in the film made me wonder what the Coen brothers would have done with that storyline).
Looks like the film is gone already, bet it was only a one week qualifying run at the Arclight for the Oscars. February must be when the film goes wide.

January 20th, actually. Can't wait. Film looks good.
Saw the film a few weeks ago. I thought it was fairly good, but I'm a sucker for docudramas. This leans more towards a character study that shows what someone with a monomaniacal vision can achieve. Carter Burwell's score fits the tone of the film, which has a certain doggedness about it.
