It's that special time in life where you have to use a 40 candle symbol on the cake instead of forty candles, because your birthday cake can now be classified as a fire hazard.

If you pay close attention, I think you will find your 40s to be the best part of your life so far.

I'm certainly more then I ever have been.

I wish when I was twenty-five I knew how fast it would go by before I was fifty. When you're a kid, ten and under, it seems like it'll take forever to get to fifty, and this sense of time, though you know better, stays with you well into your twenties. You get to twenty-five and you think, boy, it took a long time to get to twenty-five. Then, you turn around and you hit thirty, then forty, then fifty, and you wonder "Where the hell did the time go?" I'm still trying to figure out how the '90s flew by so quickly. Now, I'm less than three years away from sixty. It don't get any better, the older you get, with each year being less and less a percentage of your life, time just seems to go by faster and faster.

Before you know it, you'll be dead. Isn't life grand?

By the way, four R.I.P.s at the top of this message board.

Your right Rory. When I was 13 I thought 30 was old. It seemed to take forever to get to 25. 30 came and it really didn't bother me. When I hit 40 I took it hard. I realized I was no longer "Young". Not old but not young either. Now I won't say how old I am but 12 months feel like 3 months in passing and my urologist is my best friend!

Well, I'm sure this thread has cheered Henry up no endwink

I'm 43 now. I remember when I turned 40, a friend said that was the age when things start to change and go slowly downhill. I've had some health issues over the last 2 years (thankfully not as bad as it looked at one stage, but still not great) so I'm beginning to think he was right. As already said, it's not old but certainly not young either!

Oh and Happy 40th Henry...

Lightweights! I was 66 a few weeks ago & I'm fine with it. The trouble with being over 60 is that all the bad stuff you've done (health) comes back to bite you in the bum. I'm glad I'm not 40, or even 30, as it's a tough & unforgiving world these days, us baby boomers have had it easy & used up all the good stuff. The thing about getting older is, you might look it, but between the ears (where it counts) nothing changes, I like the same movies/music/books ect. that I liked in the 70s.

I'm 62 now. When going to see Ben Hur with my late parents 55 years ago I dreamed of the heart-throb looks I might have with Charlton Heston's hairy chest and stubble, but now i've got here trying to tidy up for business meetings etc its nothing but a *** nuisance. That's just the stubble. The hairy chest not got there!! I think I've been swindled!
