James Horner - Unlawful Entry (1992)

Just out of curiosity, what qualifies this as a holy grail? Wasn't it released by Intrada around the same as the film, and didn't they eventually discount it heavily just to get rid of their stocks?

I also vaguely recall that the reviews for the music placed it as one of Horner's weakest efforts. I haven't heard it so cannot comment, I'm just curious.

As far as my Horner grails and hopes for next year:

1. Willow - complete
2. The Land Before Time - complete
3. *batteries not included - complete or re-issue
4. Thunderheart - re-issue
5. Jack the Bear - re-issue
6. I Love You to Death - first issue
7. Volunteers - first issue
8. The Hand - first issue

Regarding other composers:

1. Dracula (Williams) - complete or new recording
2. Star Wars Prequels (Williams) - complete
3. Harry Potter Trilogy (Williams/Ross) - complete
4. Year of the Comet (Barry) - rejected
5. Goodbye, Lover (Barry) - rejected
6. Howard the Duck (Barry) - complete
7. The Black Cauldron (Bernstein) - Varese re-recording re-issue
8. A River Runs Through It (Bernstein) - rejected

I would split my "holy grails" in two categories.

Never on CD before:
Maury Laws' The Flight of Dragons (TV animated movie);
Delerue's Interlude;
Kamen's Frequency and Highlander;
Horner's Brainstorm (film recording), Deadly Blessing, The Hand, Volunteers;
Shirley's Walker's Final Destination I to III scores;
JNH's Flatliners;
Goldenthal's Batman & Robin (even if it's only an album edit)

Expanded editions:
John Williams' work, especially E.T. (complete score with alternate takes and original remastered album), Star Wars (all), Indiana Jones (all), Harry Potter I to III, Dracula, JFK, Born on the 4th of July, The Cow-Boys being priorities;

Goldsmith's Timeline, L.A. Confidential, Lionheart, The Mummy, Mulan, Small Soldiers, Air Force One and remastered Masada Re-recording.

Horner's Willow (my favorite Horner score), Perfect Storm, The Grinch (soundtrack CD was a mess with dialogues over the music...);

JNH's The Village, Sixth Sense;

Devil in the Blue Dress (only 7 min of Elmer Bernstein's score on the soundtrack CD);

Elfman's Dolores Claiborne (please, please, please Mr Townson!), Pee Wee's Big Adventure (both film recording and re-recording), Nightbreed (including Charge of the Berserkers track by Shirley Walker), Darkman, Beetlejuice, The Frighteners, Sleepy Hollow;

Poledouris' Free Willy, The Jungle Book.

Silvestri's Polar Express;

Jones' Arachnophobia (including S. Walker material) and last but not least The Dark Crystal, including all the material the composer spoke about in an older interview done at Ubeda (IIRW).

I would add Jerry Goldsmiths LEVIATHAN and if somebody could resurrect the complete most definite edition of SUPERGIRL

John Williams JFK which is scheduled for 2017 along with THE TOWERING INFERNO but I really want is a proper remaster of RETURN OF THE JEDI along with a proper restoration mixes of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK with the high ends restored. The only way these two can happen if something is done in time for the 40th Anniversary of STAR WARS. Wait.. there is also the 40th Anniversary of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND too so lets have it. I'm hopefully we will get more than a few Williams expansions this year as hinted by Mike Mattessino to us to start saving!

I'd love Intrada to do the full versions of THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES TV series later aptly re-named THE ADVENTURES OF YOUNG INDIANA JONES featuring rich authentic old school sounding scores of Laurence Rosenthall and Joel McNeely. A particular favourite of mine is the entire unreleased score from the two part pilot titled YOUNG INDIANA JONES AND THE CURSE OF THE JACKAL.

For James Horner Id love to see APOLLO 13 and WILLOW get their definitive editions.
